Recently, a notice from Budha Subba Digital circulated, suggesting the imposition of digital copyright on videos capturing the Aarati and lamp lighting ritual at Pashupati.
This move stirred controversy, drawing the Pashupati Area Development Fund into a heated dispute.
The statement from Budha Subba Digital Pvt. Ltd. reads,
“It is strictly prohibited to shoot the video of the Ganga Aarati and the lamp lighting in the core area on the banks of the Bagmati River in the Pashupatinath Aryaghat area. If it is known that the video content recorded here is placed on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube for commercial purposes, we inform you that action will be taken under the Digital Copyright Act.”
Interestingly, the fund has denied any involvement in the notice regarding the digital copyright of these events.
The fund has accused Budha Subba Digital of disseminating this information without prior authorization.
The fund issued a statement highlighting that both the fund’s logo and name were utilized without the consent of Budha Subba Digital.
The fund, which claimed that it did not agree to the said notice, has accepted that it has given the digital rights of Pashupati Aarati and lamp lighting to Budha Subba through a tender in which Budha Subba will pay one lakh and sixty thousand rupees per month.
Budha Subba Digital Pvt. Ltd. has said that it issued a notice because it got the right to shoot the video after completing the process through the tender.
