ZTE Blade A55 Overview

Design

The ZTE Blade A55 has a polycarbonate (plastic) frame with a square camera module. Unlike last year’s Blade A54, where the rear camera module took up most of the top half, the A55 adopts a more conventional design.

At the bottom, there is a USB Type-C port, headphone jack, microphone, and mono-speaker. The volume rocker and power button are on the right, with the power button sporting ZTE’s signature bright red color.

Finally, the phone comes in two color variants: Stary Black and Water Blue.

Display

The Blade A55 sports a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 720 x 1600 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate—similar to its predecessor, the Blade A54. While the specs aren’t a major upgrade, it’s good to see higher refresh rates becoming standard even in budget phones.

That said, the bezel design remains basic, with thick borders—especially the pronounced chin—a common compromise in this price range. The phone also retains the waterdrop notch seen on the Blade A54, keeping its design largely unchanged from last year’s model.

This could be a slight concern for some users, as phones priced similarly to the Blade A55, such as the Tecno Spark Go 1, offer a punch-hole notch design.

Hardware

The Blade A55 is powered by the Unisoc SC9863A, a 28nm chipset first introduced in 2018. Notably, ZTE also used the same processor in its predecessor, the Blade A54.

The octa-core processor consists of four GHz Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.2GHz.

The phone comes with 4GB of RAM, which can be virtually expanded up to 8 GB. While this isn’t the same as having physical RAM, it helps reduce load on the main memory.

For storage, you can choose between 64GB and 128GB variants. If that’s not enough, there’s a dedicated microSD card slot, though the maximum supported capacity is unspecified.

The Blade A55 uses the same chip as the Blade A35e, which is ZTE’s most affordable phone in Nepal. However, the A55 is priced slightly higher, likely due to its larger memory, better display, and slightly improved camera.

Camera

Moving on to the camera, the phone has a design that suggests three cameras, but in reality, it features a dual-camera setup. ZTE markets this as a 13MP AI Dual Camera.

The setup consists of a 13MP main lens and an unspecified auxiliary sensor. On the front, there’s an 8MP camera for selfies. The primary camera records 1080p video at 30fps, but the front camera’s video capabilities are not defined.

Battery and OS

The ZTE Blade A55 is powered by a massive 5,000mAh battery and charges via USB Type-C, which charges the phone via a 10W charger.

Lastly, on to the software side, the Blade A55 runs on Android 14 (Go edition) out of the box.

ZTE Blade A55 Price in Nepal and Availability

The ZTE Blade A55 price in Nepal is Rs. 11,999 (4/64GB) and Rs. 12,999 (4/128GB). The phone is now available for purchase at mobile retail stores across the country.

ZTE Blade A55 Price in Nepal
4/64GB Rs. 11999
4/128GB Rs. 12999

The ZTE Blade A55 is an entry-level phone with specs similar to the Blade A35e, including its lackluster performance. However, it offers better memory, storage, display, and camera. But is that enough to stand out against the competition in the budget segment?
