Karbonn, you don’t hear much from this brand anymore, but they are making phones continuously for the budget segment. It has been almost two years that we wrote about any of the phones Karbonn has made. But, here we are again. Karbonn recently launched a budget phone, Frames S9 and Karbonn Frames S9 price in Nepal is set at Rs. 14,990.

"karbonn

Karbonn Frames S9 is purely a budget handset that wants to get the basics right. It has no elongated display or a notch. And while that may sound boring in 2018, you should understand that this phone isn’t trying to be the coolest in town. It wants to do the job that most people want it to do with the budget they can afford.

This phone has a MediaTek MT6737M processor which is the most basic chipset you can find on a budget handset of this price. It can run your Facebook and YouTube just fine. But don’t expect the smoothest experience. And don’t even think about gaming on this machine.

The 2GB RAM will be good enough to run the OS and a few apps properly. But as soon as you start piling up apps in the background, you might see the phone stutter. The 16GB internal storage, while typical of the price range, won’t be enough for most people. They’d be requiring an external SD card as soon as they buy the phone.

The cameras might be good, they might be not so good, we will have to test them in person to give our judgment. But we can say that the phone is feature packed in this department. It has 3 cameras, one at the back, two in the front. The 8 MP rear shooter might click decent photos in ample light, not so well in low-light conditions. The dual 8MP cameras on the front promise a 120-degree selfie which is a good use of the dual sensors.

It’s a good thing that this phone has a fingerprint sensor because some other expensive phones from Oppo, like the Youth series, forgoes this feature even it the phones cost around 20K. What is not so great is the battery capacity which measures at 2900mAh. While the HD display might be not as intensive on the battery as an FHD panel (not as good looking too), we don’t know if Karbonn has the battery management chops to pull a day out of this battery for moderate usage. It might. Only future can tell us. Other features to know about include the OS version which is sadly Android 7.0 Nougat and this phone also has dual sim capabilities.
