CG Motocorp, the official distributor of Maruti Suzuki vehicles in Nepal, has finally launched the third generation of its popular hatchback, the all-new Swift, in the Nepali market. The company has launched two variants of Swift, VXI, and ZXI. Both of these variants share almost identical specs and run on the petrol engine. The price of VXI variant for the Nepali market is marked Rs. 28.99 Lakhs whereas the upper-end ZXI variant comes with a slightly bigger price tag of Rs. 31.99 Lakhs. Both the variants of the new Swift were previously available for pre-bookings with a special package offer for its 100 early bid customers.

Right from the launch, the Swift has been one of the best selling cars. The first generation of Swift which was launched back in 2005 was an instant success. The second generation of the Swift was no different. With more elements, both in the interior and exterior, and better cosmetics, the second generation of the Swift was also popular and had managed to win many prestigious awards.

Now there is a new one out. The new generation of Swift is based on the fifth-generation HEARTECT platform which underpins the Baleno, Ignis, and its compact sedan sibling, the new Dzire. The platform provides Swift with a strong build and keeping the construction low on weight. The new Maruti Swift has shredded off a substantial weight up to 85kg compared to the second generation.

Under the hood, the new Swift retains the same K12 VVT engine from its predecessors. Thought it runs on the same engine as its previous generations, the lightweight HEARTECT platform provides the new Swift more aerodynamic design that not only makes it quicker and nimbler but also fuel efficient.

In term of exterior design, the new Swift looks smarter and mature than the previous models. The new hexagonal grille with chrome surround along with more longer and sharply shaped headlight dominates the design. The signature design elements – the LED headlamps and taillamps, the tapering floating roof, the flatter lid and wider windscreen, the sculpted bonnet – all are there. The difference now is the rear-door handle which is positioned on the C-pillar. The C-pillar is made of black plastic which extends all the way to rear windscreen.
