Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa expressed his concerns about the power supply disruption going on in Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). He summoned Kulman Ghising, executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to address the matter and to figure out a solution.
Why it matters:
Even if the electricity is cut off in the TIA for a short amount of time, it can cause a huge problem. It increases the chances of a security breach and leaves the system bare to any potentially illegal activities inside the airport premises.
What they are saying:
- The home minister said that disruption in airport’s power supply system for a brief time may cause a big problem, and thus directed the NEA chief to pay special attention to the matter.
- NEA executive director Ghising vowed to take all possible measures to avoid such situation in the future. He said, “The NEA efforts will be for providing uninterrupted power supply to TIA, hospitals and other important areas.”
