TVS NTorq Race XP First Ride: More Power, More Performance!

TVS NTorq changed the 125cc scooter forever.

Jagadamba Motors, the authorized distributor of TVS scooters in Nepal, has introduced a brand new NTorq variant.

TVS NTorq Race XP is the most powerful scooter in the Nepali market. The latest iteration maxes out in both style, performance, and features.

After the bump in powertrain and refreshed styling, it also includes Colored Alloys, Riding Modes, and Voice Assist features.

However, it does come at a price.

Talking about the price, the TVS NTorq Race XP is priced at Rs. 3.15 Lakhs.

We are fortunate enough to get it for review. While we are still busy testing it out, we have gathered enough for this First Ride Impressions.

TVS NTorq Race XP First Ride

Design

TVS NTorq Race XP sports the same styling as the BS6 Race Edition.

The design is based on the Stealth Aircraft, topped off with sportier graphics and brighter colors.

The Checkered Flag Design, Faux Carbon Fiber Finish, and 3-Tone Colors are still there. However, TVS has shifted a few colors here and there to create a new styling profile.

It gets a good combination of Red, Black, and Silver. Like before, TVS has implemented a mix of matte and glossy finish.

The front panel comes with an ‘RT-FI’ badging to highlight its new BS6-compliant engine.

The front section comes with multiple LED headlamps with a T-shaped signature DRL. Moreover, the side indicators are integrated into the handlebar.

The side profile and the rear profile are still the same, except for the fresher color profile.

Other stylistic elements include a Double-stitched Seat, Afterburner Inspired Faux Vents, Split Grab Rail, and Split Type Rear Fender.

TVS NTorq 125 Race XP is only available in a single color.

Performance

VS NTorq is powered by a 124.79cc, 4-stroke, 3-valve, Air-cooled FI engine. It can generate a max power of 10.2PS at 7000rpm and a max torque of 10.8Nm at 5500rpm.

Moreover, it is mated to an Automatic Centrifugal Clutch with a 5.8-liter fuel tank capacity.

It features a BS6-compliant RT-FI engine.

There is no change in engine configuration or engine displacement. However, TVS has been engineered in such a way as to generate more power and torque than before.

As a result, NTorq 125 XP now generates 0.8PS more power and 0.3Nm more torque than before. It brings the peppiness back like in the older Carburetor engine.

There is a considerable improvement in engine smoothness and refinement.

Interestingly enough, there are no vibration issues. However, it does have a minor buzz at the footboard during acceleration.

If you ride the NTorq Race XP and NTorq BS6, you will notice differences between the two.

Race XP carries a punch in both initial acceleration and power. The engine does feel peppier and less laggy than the Standard version.

Plus, it includes extra perks like Voice Assist and Riding Modes.

Please note that the previous NTorq had Riding Modes. However, it is functional in the Race XP.

Unfortunately, I didn’t notice that much of a difference between the two modes. I will keep a close eye on this.

Similarly, there is now a Voice Assist feature. With this, the riders can directly communicate with the scooter to open up many possibilities.

Again, is it a gimmick or is it actually useful?

Additional Features

TVS NTorq XP comes with Telescopic Suspension at the front and Coil Spring at the rear.

It gets a Disc/Drum braking configuration with Sync Braking Technology.

The dimensions are 1861mm in length, 710mm in width, and 1163mm in height. Moreover, the wheelbase sits at 1285mm.

TVS NTorq XP ground clearance is 155mm. And, the kerb weight is 116kg.

Additionally, it gets 20-liter under-seat storage.

NTorq does include USB Charging and a Boot light as standard. However, the boot light was missing in our review unit.

Conclusion

With a price tag of Rs. 3.15 Lakhs, the TVS NTorq Race XP is one of the most expensive 125cc scooters in Nepal.

Just a few years after its launch, the TVS NTorq is continuing on its path to evolve into an unstoppable force.

The Race Edition introduced elements that made it sportier.

But, the Race XP makes it both sportier and punchier. This is for those looking for a fully performance-focused powerhouse.

TVS claims that the Race XP will go beyond limits, providing extra power, extra mileage, and extra smart features.

Are those features enough to beat out rivals like Honda Grazia 125, Yamaha Ray ZR 125, and Suzuki Avenis 125?

We have done a detailed comparison between NTorq 125 with the Ray ZR. During that comparison, the NTorq 125 came out on top for performance in the real world.

Hopefully, the new Race XP will continue on that path. Nevertheless, we will test those claims out in our full review.
