Nepali ride-hailing app Tootle has announced the commission rates for bikes and taxis. The platform updated its commission structure for riders on April 14, 2024.
Tootle now charges a commission of 12 percent for taxis and 15 percent for motorcycles. Previously, Tootle was charging zero percent commission as a promotional offer, which has now ended.
Tootle was relaunched in Nepal in September 2023 under new management by Zapp Services, initially charging 15 percent commission for bikes and 12 percent for taxis. However, starting December 7, 2023, Tootle did not take any commission from its riders and drivers until April 13, 2024, as part of a promotional offer.
Zapp Services Managing Director Rubik Joshi shared with TechLekh that they had plans to set the commission rate to 20 percent for bike riders and 15 percent for taxi drivers, following its zero percent offer period.
However, to ensure fair compensation for riders and maintain affordability for users, Tootle has now settled at the current rate of 12 percent for taxis and 15 percent for bikes.
“We are constantly striving to enhance the Tootle experience for both riders and users,” said Rubik Joshi, managing director of Zapp Services Pvt. Ltd.
“The introduction of the new commission structure reflects our dedication to creating a sustainable ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders. We believe that these changes will further strengthen our platform and contribute to the growth of Nepal’s transportation industry.”
