Tambo is a smartphone company based in Noida, India. It was established in 2017 and just made its debut in April of 2018 in India. Now, with the mindset of going global and after the success it received in its short time in India, Tambo Mobiles has entered the Nepalese market. Tambo had a launch event in Soaltee Crowne Plaza in Kathmandu on 7th August; they launched 2 smartphones and 6 feature phones altogether. They are calling their feature phones ‘powerphones’, and their smartphones ‘superphones’, which are objectively cool names.
Shankaracharya Mobile Pvt. Ltd. has been named the official distributor of Tambo phones in Nepal. They have said that the cheapest of the Tambo phones that will be available in Nepal will cost near around Rs. 1000.
So, now you might be thinking: “New brands with weird names come in every time; why should I even look at these phones?” Mostly you’ll be right. New brands, unless they are giant players elsewhere in the world, don’t bring anything new to the table. But surprisingly, that’s not the case with Tambo Mobiles. Tambo Mobiles have vowed to give customers 200 days replacement warranty and 365 days screen replacement warranty on all models. All their models.
Do you remember your phone whose screen you cracked the week you bought it or even six months after you bought it? Maybe your friend has such a story. That story usually ended up with coughing up some cash and getting your screen fixed, but Tambo has a warranty. So you can chill.
The two Tambo superphones that were launched in the event were: Tambo TA-2 and Tambo TA-3. Both of these belong to the budget segment. In fact, Tambo specific focus is on the entry-level and the budget market. The Tambo TA3 has an 18:9 aspect ratio display and a fingerprint sensor which makes it stand out a little from the budget market.

These are decent phones from Tambo, especially considering the price. Both their superphones even have a facial unlock feature and a support for 4G VoLTE.
Tambo has a long battle to fight to make a noticeable place for themselves in this budget market where the competition is the fiercest. Companies like Xiaomi and Samsung have made a name for themselves in this category and it will be difficult to dethrone them. But Tambo says they can win people’s hearts back.
We wish Tambo a successful future in Nepal and hope they keep making even better phones for the even lesser price.
