This is a detailed review of the brand-new Suzuki Avenis 125.
Suzuki has always been an underdog in the Nepali market.
If you take a quick look at Suzuki Nepal’s portfolio in Nepal, there are plenty of underrated products on its list.
Both its bikes and scooters can put its offerings to shame. However, the two-wheeler market segment is still dominated by its other Japanese and Indian rivals.
It is mostly due to its lack of marketing.
Hopefully, the launch of the brand new Suzuki Avenis 125 will change that. It is a good offering with plenty of practical and sporty elements.
VG Suzuki, the authorized distributor of Suzuki scooters in Nepal, is putting in extra effort this time around. With a price tag of Rs. 2.99 Lakhs, it is packed with exciting features and brand-new styling.
Who will ride the new Suzuki Avenis? Will it help Suzuki establish a brand new market dominance?
We tested out the new Suzuki Avenis 125 for a full week! And, we are finally ready to share our thoughts on the newest 125cc sporty scooter in town!

Suzuki Avenis 125 Overview
Sporty Design
The scooter market has changed drastically.
It is no longer about reserved styling and boring colors. Interestingly enough, the Suzuki Avenis tries to change things with its brand-new styling.
Suzuki calls this “Advanced Sporty Styling”.
In contrast to the existing Suzuki scooters, it has a more sporty and stylish appearance.
It combines sculpted lines and creases for a bolder and more muscular design. The lines are sharper and even more prominent.
Moreover, it gets a Dual Tone finish that establishes itself as a premium offering. It is a mix of glossy paint with a matte finish.
While the pictures do not do it justice, it does attract attention on the streets.
Suzuki Avenis 125 is available in four colors: Green, Orange, White, and Black. All color variants are attractive and enticing enough to separate from the competition.
All Too Familiar
You know, what’s not separate though?
There is a strong resemblance with the TVS NTorq 125.
If it weren’t a Suzuki offering, one might even claim it as a knock-off. The panel placement and creases are all similar to the NTorq.
The front section sports a body-mounted LED headlamp. Moreover, the side indicators have been integrated along the handlebar.
This yet again matches with the NTorq.
Nonetheless, the headlamp is brighter and wider compared to the one in NTorq.
While there is a blacked-out windshield like in the NTorq, it is slightly taller in design.
The side profile has an uncanny resemblance with the NTorq. Nevertheless, Suzuki has tried to give its take here, making it more sharper and aggressive.
The rear section includes a split-type LED lamp with a split-type grab rail.
Suzuki has done its best to make things unique. However, the hard work gets lost due to its strong resemblance with the competition.
Performance
Suzuki Avenis 125 is powered by a 124.3cc, Single-Cylinder, 2-valve, air-cooled, SOHC, FI engine. It generates a max power of 8.7PS at 6750rpm and a max torque of 10Nm at 5500rpm.
Moreover, it is mated to a CVT transmission with a 5.2-liter fuel tank capacity.
Suzuki’s past two scooters already shared the same engine. And now, this is a third scooter sharing the same engine yet again.
It comes with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) too.
On top of that, there is considerable part-sharing between the two. The engine components, tyres sizes, suspension setup, ground clearance, and a few other features are shared between the siblings.
So, you will notice the same features seen in past scooters.
With that said, the Suzuki Avenis 125 gets a BS6-compliant FI engine.
Practical Features
Suzuki scooters are always practical. Fortunately enough, the Suzuki Avenis will continue that trend being practical with its interesting list of features.
Braking Performance
Suzuki Avenis gets a standard configuration of a Front Disc and Rear Drum. Moreover, it includes the additional safety of a Combined Braking System (CBS).
The braking performance of Suzuki scooters has always been impressive.
And, that remains the same here as well.
The brakes have an excellent bite to them. Both the front and rear brakes provide excellent confidence.
Oddly so, the CBS works in a way that simply pressing on the rear brake lever generates good enough force on the front tyre as well.
So, simply pressing the rear brake lever did the trick.
If you are coming from a Drum only scooter, this needs some getting used to. Once done, the braking performance is truly next level.
Tyres
It sports a 90/90-section 12-inch tyre at the front and a 90/100-section 10-inch tyre at the rear.
Unfortunately, Suzuki has used the same tyre combination in its past scooters as well. Apart from hindering its rear profile look, it affects the riding style as well.
The scooter loses its confidence around corners and stability at higher speeds.
This could have been mitigated with a 12-inch rear tyre. However, Suzuki might have done so to improve its already fuel economy.
I guess the sacrifice is justifiable here. Although, I wish Suzuki could have tried something different here, considering it is a brand-new scooter.
Suspension
Telescopic Fork and Swing Arm handle the suspension setup.
It is a mix between softness and hardness like a bridge. It goes back and forth depending on ride conditions.
If you want comfort, it provides a softer feel. If you want to extract performance, it provides a stiffer feel.
Nevertheless, it does have a jumpy rear feel when you encounter a bit of rough terrain.
Seat Comfort and Pillion
Fortunately, the seat is comfortable enough to absorb most bumps.
It is a two-level seat with a dual-tone finish. There is plenty of room for both rider and pillion. Moreover, the seating has a good balance between hardness and softness.
The comfort level remains the same even on longer rides.
Additionally, it is a bit more rider focused than other scooters in this segment. Hence, it helps to accommodate taller riders.
Small-height riders or lightweight riders may need some time to get used to it.
Fuel Tank Capacity and Mileage
Suzuki Avenis sports a 5.2-liter fuel tank capacity.
We tested it out with a fair bit of a mix of riding styles. During that, we managed to get around 50-55Kmpl of mileage.
In general, the rider should get around 260-286Km on a Full Tank.
Digital Meter
Unfortunately, the Digital Meter does not get any Bluetooth Connectivity.
Instead, the all-digital meter only provides standard information like Eco Indicator, Twin Trip Meter, Oil Change Indicators, Average Mileage, Battery Voltage, and Oil Temperature.
It provides adequate information.
However, Suzuki Nepal should have included Turn-by-Turn Navigation. Frankly, it could have enhanced the overall appeal.
For the asking price, Bluetooth Connectivity should have been included.
Convenient Storage Spots
Suzuki Avenis is all about practicality. It gets two interesting storage spots at the front alongside the baggage hooks.
There is a 1-liter Glove Compartment.
Unfortunately, it cannot be locked. Nevertheless, it provided a convenient storage spot for mobile phones, gloves, and other documents.
Plus, there is a USB Charging port with a Blue-colored Ambient lighting effect.
The other storage spot is a pretty open one. It can be used for water bottles.
Similarly, the Under-Seat storage can be accessed via Suzuki’s combinational lock. That gives access to massive 22-liter boot storage.
It can store Half Helmet and a smaller-sized Full Helmet. However, a larger-sized Full Helmet will be difficult.

My Experience with Suzuki Avenis 125
Refined Practicality
Suzuki’s 125cc engine has always been an underrated one.
Despite being a BS6-compliant engine, there is a sort of familiarity here.
It is the same engine shared across all Suzuki scooters like Access 125 and Burgman 125. So much so that the overall ride and handling are pretty similar to those scooters.
There is no noticeable difference between BS6 and BS4 engines. But, it gets the Side-Stand Engine Cut-Off as standard.
However, the BS6 engine refinement is on-point. There is a slight buzz during initial acceleration, except that the vibrations are next to none.
The low-end performance is still lagging. And, the top-end is only decent.
However, it shines in the mid-range performance. There is a slight delay in the initial pickup, but the Avenis engine quickly overcomes that delay, allowing for quick overtaking.
It gives off that cruising feel which has been very unique to Suzuki scooters. Nevertheless, the scooter happily keeps riders engaged.
It is just so fun to ride on city roads and tight twists and turns. Honestly, it is a bonafide scooter that’s made for the city.
The scooter feels lagging on the highways.
Nevertheless, it continues to maintain a comfortable experience.
Tall riders will surely appreciate just how much it manages to accommodate them. Interestingly, the value offering keeps getting better!
Shortcomings
Suzuki Avenis 125 is a practical scooter.
Even though the experience was great, it could have been better.
It checks off most of the boxes for a good scooter. It is agile, sporty, and fun to ride.
However, there are a few spots for improvement.
Again, Suzuki should have made changes to the rear tyres. The rear tyre does get the job done, but it does not feel stable or confident around corners or at higher speeds.
This could have been solved with a 12-inch tyre or at least a wider tyre.
Moreover, the styling similarities between the Avenis and NTorq are a cause for concern. Suzuki could have done a better job to create a more unique-looking scooter.
Battle with Competition
After sharing the visual similarities, it is clear that the Suzuki Avenis rivals TVS NTorq 125.
TVS NTorq 125 boasts 0.7PS more power and 0.3Nm more torque than the Suzuki Avenis 125. Moreover, it is comparatively stable and more confident around corners.
Plus, it is seriously feature-loaded for the price. However, that comes at the cost of fuel economy.
In contrast, the Suzuki Avenis 125 provides sporty styling with a major focus on engine refinements, practical features, and fuel economy.
So, it is very clear from the get-go.
Go for NTorq 125 for feature-loaded performance. Go for Avenis 125 for refined fuel economy,
Conclusion
This may be the last one to join the sporty 125cc segment. But, it is not the least one in terms of the offering.
There are a few misses within those four elements that hold it back a bit.
Despite those few misses, Avenis still stands strong as a Sporty yet Practical Scooter. It is Fun, Practical, and Refined!
This is the new Suzuki Avenis 125, a true underdog.
Nothing to lose, everything to gain.
