Sokon EC36: 11-Seater Electric Van with 300KM Range Launching Soon in Nepal

Sokon EC36 is launching soon in Nepal.

MAW Vriddhi, the authorized distributor of Sokon EVs in Nepal, plans to introduce an all-new electric van for the Nepali market.

Sokon EC 36 is a 11-seater electric van, featuring a 60kW PMSM Motor and 42kWh Lithium Battery!

Interestingly, the Sokon EC36 is similar to the DFSK EC36, which is already available in Nepal under the DFSK Danfe name tag.

Sokon EC36 and DFSK EC36 share the same specifications, styling, and features, except for their respective badges.

This is expected since Sokon is part of a partnership between Dongfeng and Seres Group.

What is the Price of Sokon EC36 in Nepal?

Sokon EC36 price in Nepal is still under consideration.

MAW Vriddhi will reveal the price and other relevant details after the launch. Moreover, the company is planning to offer Sokon EC36 to the general public by April 2024.

As the transition towards clean energy and sustainable development continues, the Nepali EV market continues to grow with multiple brands coming to Nepal.

With that said, let’s take a quick look at the Sokon EC36 in Nepal along with its specifications for 2024.

Sokon EC 36 Overview

Design

Sokon EC36 follows a basic van design.

The front sports a Trapezoidal Halogen Headlamp with Side Indicators. Moreover, the Fog Lamps are integrated at the bumper.

It gets a basic Grille with Sokon badging at the center and honeycomb-styled diffusers below.

Interestingly enough, the AC Charging Port is accessible just behind the Sokon logo. The DC Fast Charging Port is on the right side, near the driver’s door. 

There is not much about the side profile.

It has a traditional van styling with few lines and sculpted aesthetics. However, Sokon has included thick blacked-out window borders to make it a bit unique.

EC36 gets a four-door setup, the front for the driver section, and the rear to access the passenger seats.

Coming to the rear section, it continues to maintain the boxy design. Moreover, it gets a rectangular Halogen Taillight, Sokon logo at the center, and EC36 badging.

While the tailgate can be opened, it does not offer much storage space.

Inside, the EC 36 does its best to offer a balance between practicality and features.

It features a large Touch Instrument Cluster with a Battery Indicator, Seat Belt Reminder, Door Open Reminder, Tire Pressure Alarm, and more.

Additionally, the Sokon EC36 comes in White only.

Performance

Sokon EC 36 is powered by a 60 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. It can generate a max power of 82 PS and a max torque of 200 Nm, claiming a top speed of 100kmph.

It is supported by a 41.86kWh LiFePo Battery, providing a range of 300km on a single charge.

EC36 supports both AC Charging and DC Fast Charging.

It can fully charge from 0 to 100% in 7 to 10 hours with AC Charging and 2.5 hours with DC Charging.

Additional Details

MacPherson and 5-Piece Leaf Springs handle the suspension duties.

The overall dimensions are 4500mm in length, 1680 mm in width, and 2000 mm in height. Moreover, the wheelbase is 3050mm.

Sokon EC36 gets a 188mm ground clearance. And, the kerb weight is 1575kg.

Sokon EC36 Price in Nepal and Availability

Talking about the price, the Sokon EC36 price in Nepal will be around Rs. 45 Lakhs to Rs. 50 Lakhs.

While MAW Vriddhi has yet to reveal any important details, we can estimate the price of the upcoming Sokon by factoring in the price of the DFSK Danfe.

DFSK Danfe, which currently retails for Rs. 45 Lakhs, shares the specs and overall design with the Sokon EC36.

If Sokon wants to take a competitive edge over the DFSK, then MAW Vriddhi should price it a bit more aggressively.

That being said, the Sokon EC36 is being planned for an April 2024 launch.
