Samsung Galaxy M51 is a mid-ranger that is rocking a huge 7000mAh battery which is very rare. Samsung Galaxy M51 price in Nepal is Rs. 39,999 for the 6/128GB variant and 43,999 for the 8/128GB variant.

Samsung Galaxy M51 Early Impressions
Same Old Design
Samsung Galaxy M51 doesn’t offer a change in design language compared to the previous M-series phones like M31 and M51. It is still using a plastic back with a familiar rectangular camera block. It looks more like the A71.
To my surprise, Samsung M51 doesn’t come with a case in the box. So, I have been pretty careful about where I place the device because it is prone to smudges.
The power button now works as a fingerprint sensor and that is the only notable change from the A71 interms of design. On the front, it gets a hole-punch right in the middle and the hole-punch does have a slightly big border.
The volume button is right above the power button and the sim tray is on the opposite side. On the bottom, it gets a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type C port, and a single speaker.

The phone is big and given that it has a 7000 mAh battery it only weighs about 213gms. It doesn’t feel too heavy on hands. Even though it uses a plastic back, the phone feels premium.
Impressive Super AMOLED Plus Display
When you look at the display of the Samsung M51 for the first time, it will feel like a flagship phone.
It is rocking a 6.7 inches FHD+ Super AMOLED Plus display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The color reproduction is rich and brightness is more than enough.
Belive me when I say it, the display on the M51 feels crisp and it looks absolutely beautiful.
Yeah, it is not a high refresh rate display but the display quality of M51 feels so good that you don’t even feel the need for a high refresh rate. But, its inclusion would have absolutely smashed the competitions.
Snapdragon For The Win
I’m glad that Samsung is not using an Exynos chipset on the M51. It is using Snapdragon 730G chipset which is a very capable mid-range chipset. Along with it, you get 128GB storage and 6GB/8GB of RAM depending on the variant. The one I’m using has 6GB of RAM.
M51 is really smooth while navigating and the animations are also fluid. There have been no issues with its performance so far.
For gaming, I’ve only played 2 team deathmaches of COD Mobile on highest graphics setting and the performance has been excellent. It has been a hell of a smooth affair.
Well, it is early to tell you the full story so I will definitely do more tests and let you know how it fares over time.
Strong Camera Setup
Samsung Galaxy M51 has a triple camera setup on the rear. There’s a 64MP main sensor, a 12MP Ultrawide angle sensor, a 5MP Depth sensor, and a 5MP Macro sensor.
Images have good details, the colors look saturated as ever and the dyanamic range looks good as well.
I have clicked a few 64MP images as well but you won’t see much difference unless you are pixel peeping.

Similarly, the 12MP ultrawide angle camera also performs exceptionally. You get good details and the images have similar colors profile as the main sensor. The 123-degree FOV is really great and I love how good HDR works with the ultrawide angle sensor.
As for night shots, I was surprised. I will tell the full story in my full review but enjoy some samples for now.
The 32MP front camera captures good images with saturated colors. But I did notice that it sharpens the photo and crushes blacks.
You can capture up to 4k videos from both the rear and front cameras. But it cannot do 4k 60 from the rear camera though. I’m yet to test these cameras to the full extent for the full review. So stay tuned for a more detailed camera review.
Battery
Samsung Galaxy M51 has a massive 7000 mAh battery along with 25W fast charging. I was easily able to use it for 1 and a half day under moderate usage. I was getting around 10+ hours of screen on time.
As for the charging, Samsung claims that the 25W charger can charge it from 0 to 100 in about 2 hours. I will update the battery test in my full review later next week.
Software
On the software side of things, it has Android 10 along with One UI Core 2.5. Well, the experience is similar to what we get from other phones like M31. There’s no much change in the UI. The animations are smooth and the One UI feels very intuitive.
One UI is definitely among my top 2 UI. Also, M51 is eligible for the Android 11 update too.
Final Thoughts
Samsung Galaxy M51 is a monstrous mid-ranger. It brings a huge battery, good performance, and the camera looks really good so far. They haven’t changed the design and it looks similar to previous Samsung phones but it’s fine.

Also, they could have introduced a high refresh rate display but I’m not complaining because the AMOLED panel is just too good. Well, I love Samsung M51 as of now but I would have liked it if they had included a cover inside the box.
Stay tuned for the full review where I will be exploring more on every aspect like camera, performance, and battery even further.
