Samsung announced new AI-powered TVs in April 2024 at the “Unbox & Discover” event in Bengaluru, India. The 2024 line-up of premium TVs announced were Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, and OLED TVs.
Of these models, Samsung has brought the Neo QLED 4K TVs to Nepal. They are available in two models, QN85D and QN90D, and in sizes of 55, 65, 75, 85, and 98 inches.
Samsung has remained the no. 1 global TV brand for 18 years straight by units sold. Based on market research firm Omdia, Samsung achieved a 30.1 percent share of the global TV market in 2023, making it the industry leader since 2006.
With these new models, Samsung aims to lead the TV industry this year as well. Powered by Tizen OS software, the 2024 Neo QLED TVs are equipped with the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor offering 4K AI Upscaling.
The TV also features SmartThings, AI Energy Mode, and the new Knox Matrix security.
NQ4 AI Gen2
The 2024 Neo QLED 4K lineup is equipped with the NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor, which upscales content to 4K resolution. It features Real Depth Enhancer Pro and Quantum Matrix Technology for improved contrast. The display is Pantone Validated for color accuracy and includes Dolby Atmos for enhanced audio quality.
Tizen is a Linux-based open-source operating system (OS) that was developed by Samsung and Intel. You can download third-party apps on it, share files and media from connected devices, and use a voice assistant feature. The new features include Mobile Smart Connect, 360 Audio, and Multi Control. Mobile Smart Connect lets you turn your phone into a remote control. The Multi Control feature lets users operate all their Samsung devices with a single Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
Knox Matrix
Knox Matrix is Samsung’s vision for a future wherein devices connected in an ecosystem can protect each other — as well as their users, Samsung says. Samsung devices that are empowered with Knox Matrix work to protect one another in a trusted network.
If one element is compromised, Knox Matrix will isolate it from the ecosystem in order to protect the others. Samsung shares that having Knox Matrix supported across devices can effectively turn a smart home into a smart shield — the more devices a user has connected, the stronger their overall security.
