After the recent launch of Xiaomi Mi 11, Xiaomi has launched Redmi K40 Pro and K40 Pro+.
Redmi K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ price start at CNY 2,800 and CNY 3,700 respectively.
As of now, the K40 series is only available in China, and it’s not sure if Xiaomi will launch the Redmi K40 Pro in Nepal along with the K40 Pro+.

Redmi K40 Pro/Pro+ Overview
Design
Redmi K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ have the same design. The design is also similar to that of the Mi 11. There’s a triple camera setup on the rear and the fingerprint is on the side.
On the front, it comes with a 2.76mm hole punch. It is also IP53 rated for dust and water resistance and it comes with a stereo speaker setup.
Display
Both devices use a 6.67 inch Super AMOLED E4 panel manufactured by Samsung. It is a 120Hz display with a 360Hz touch sampling rate. The panel is rated A+ by DisplayMate.
The panel has a screen resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. On top of that, it supports HDR10+ and Xiaomi claims a peak brightness of 1300 nits.
Hardware
K40 Pro and Pro+ rock the same Snapdragon 888 chipset.
It has an Octa-Core processor with 1 Cortex X1 core, 3 Cortex A78 cores, and 4 Cortex A55 cores. It is one of the first chipsets to employ the new Cortex X1 high-performance cores.
Redmi K40 Pro comes in following memory configuration: 128GB 6GB RAM, 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM. Whereas, the K40 Pro+ comes in a single configuration with 256GB storage and 12GB RAM.
They are 5G ready as it includes sub-6GHz 5G as well as Wi-Fi 6 for fast data speeds. In terms of Bluetooth, they use Bluetooth 5.2. There’s also an X-axis linear motor for better haptic feedback.
Camera
One of the main differences between the K40 Pro+ and the K40 Pro is the main camera.
The K40 Pro+ is using the 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor, measuring 1/1.52″ and comes with 9-to-1 binning. It supports dual native ISO and Super Night Scene 2.0 for better pictures.
The Pro only model uses the 64MP sensor instead of the 108MP sensor. The sensor used is the Sony IMX686 sensor with 4-to-1 pixel binning.
Except for the main sensor, both of them use the same 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 119-degree FOV and a 5MP telephoto camera. On the front, both use a 20MP camera.
Redmi K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ support 8K 30fps videos as well.
Battery
K40 Pro and Pro+ use the same 4520mAh battery which charges at 33W over USB-C using USB PD 3 and QuickCharge 3.0+.
The 33W charger can charge it from 0 to 100% in just 52 minutes.
Furthermore, it runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 11.

Redmi K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ price starts at CNY 2,800 (approx 50,000 NPR) and CNY 3,700 (66,100 NPR) respectively.

These phones are only available in China as of now and we are not sure if these devices will be launched in Nepal. However, these devices could be rebranded and launched as POCO phones in the global market.
Nonetheless, Redmi K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ are looking like a top-notch affordable flagship. Let’s hope these devices make it to Nepal.
