Redmi 9C Overview
Design
Redmi 9C is made from plastic with a plastic back and plastic frame. The back features a textured design that prevents fingerprints.
The camera module on the rear looks like what we see on the Realme C11. It has a triple camera setup on the rear flanked by a fingerprint sensor. On the front, it has a teardrop notch design.
Display
Redmi 9C comes with a 6.53-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. They are calling it a DotDrop display.
The screen has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and 400 nits of max brightness. Protection of any kind is not mentioned.
Hardware
On the inside, Redmi 9C is powered by the Mediatek Helio G35 chipset. It has an Octa-core 2.3 GHz CPU with 8 Cortex-A53 cores. And, it has a PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Along with it, it has 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB128GB eMMC 5.1 internal storage, respectively.

The chipset is almost the same as the G25 used on the Redmi 9A. The only difference is that all the 8 Cortex A-53 cores on the Redmi 9A run at 2.0 GHz whereas 4 Cortex A-53 cores run on 2.3 GHz and the other 4 Cortex A-53 cores run on 1.8GHz on the Redmi 9C. Then, both of them have the same GPU.
So, theoretically, Redmi 9C should have a slightly better CPU performance than the Redmi 9A.
Camera
Redmi 9C comes with a triple camera setup on the rear. It has a 13MP main sensor, 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor.
On the front, it comes with a 5MP depth sensor. The whole camera setup is an update to that of the Redmi 9A with the addition of a depth sensor and macro sensor.

It doesn’t support fast charging and comes with 10W charging.
Furthermore, it runs on MIUI 12 on top of Android 10.
Redmi 9C Price in Nepal and Availability
Xiaomi hiked the prices of all the variants of the Redmi 9C by Rs. 1,000 in Nepal. Redmi 9C new price in Nepal is Rs. 13,999 (2GB+32GB), Rs. 15,999 (3GB+64GB), and Rs. 17,999 (4GB+128GB). It is available at all Xiaomi stores across Nepal and online partners.
Redmi 9C | Price in Nepal |
---|---|
2/32GB | Rs. |
3/64GB | Rs. |
4/128GB | Rs. |
Redmi 9C is a good upgrade to the Redmi 9A as it gets a fingerprint sensor and a better chipset. Along with that, it has a triple camera setup. While I don’t think the 2MP depth sensor and 2MP macro sensor are gonna be too useful, it certainly adds more value. But what I like is the upgraded chipset and the availability of the 128GB variant.

Realme C11 with the same chipset only has 2GB of RAM and doesn’t include a fingerprint sensor. And, its price is almost the same as Redmi 9C’s 3GB RAM and 64GB variant. So, Redmi 9C has definitely undercut its competitor by a good margin. While we ranked the Redmi 9A as the best smartphone under Rs. 15,000 previously, that title now gets passed on to the Redmi 9C.
