Xiaomi’s budget offering Redmi 8A was launched in Nepal on November 2019. For the starting price of Rs. 12,999, it is still the best phone. You get a decent entry-level processor, decent camera, and a fairly stylish looking phone on a budget. But, Xiaomi is not done yet, they want to give you more, a second camera maybe? Well, yes! Xiaomi has eventually brought out the Redmi 8A Dual in Nepal for the very same attractive pricing. The Readmi 8A Dual price in Nepal is set Rs 12,999 for the 3/32GB variant.
So, what’s there in the dual variant that you don’t have on the first iteration of Redmi 8A? I’ll let you out on a sneak peak: It’s entirely related to the “Dual” tagline!
Redmi 8A Dual Overview
The first thing you will notice is the dual camera on the rear, that is where it gets it name from. Redmi 8A + additional camera = Redmi 8A Dual. That’s what I thought first but it’s not quite true as it has a new primary sensor as well. Redmi 8A has a single 12MP f/1.8 camera but now the Redmi 8A Dual has a primary 13MP f/1.8 camera sensor along with a 2MP depth sensor. While we are on the subject of the camera, the 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera is still there.
Now, the other change comes in the form of design. Redmi 8A looks pretty cool with its Aura Glow design but now we get an Aura XGrip design on the Redmi 8A Dual. It’s not like the Redmi 8A is a slippery device or a fingerprint magnet but the new mesh texture surely looks intrinsic.
The overall body seems to same as the Redmi 8A though, it looks the same from the front, the sides, and almost the same from the back. Except for the additional camera, the flash has now moved to the top of the camera setup. And, yes it also comes with p2i nano-coating for splash resistance.
Like the Redmi 8A, the 8A dual has a 6.22 inches IPS LCD HD “dot” notch display. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 technology and it’s got 400 nits max brightness.

Redmi 8A Dual Price in Nepal, Availability, and Impressions
As mentioned above, the Redmi 8A Dual has already hit stores across Nepal for a marked price of Rs 12,999 for the 3/32GB variant. If you did manage to catch up with our previous article, you probably already had a clue about the pricing scenario. So, no surprises here!
It seems like we won’t be getting the 2/32GB variant this time around though. Oh well, setting that aside, let’s talk about the fact the Redmi 8A Dual is clearly in competition with its own Redmi 8A and the likes of Samsung A10s.
Redmi 8A Dual is an upgrade to the Redmi 8A and specifically, it’s a minor upgrade. It’s got a good style and even though it’s a plastic body, the build quality feels good and most importantly it doesn’t feel cheap. Well, it’s processor is good enough for basic tasks and people getting this phone will not be complaining about its performance.
Furthermore, it’s big 5000mAh battery and 18W fast charging support is impressive. With the specs and display of this phone, you should get around 2 days of battery usage with the Redmi 8A Dual.
So, the Redmi 8A Dual is a minor upgrade to the Redmi 8A. While it is not a significant upgrade, it could be more appealing to consumers because of its Dual camera moniker.
