A New Redmi Phone Surfaces Online, Could be Redmi 7A

I guess Xiaomi itself doesn’t know the number of models of smartphone Xiaomi makes. It has already launched 3 different smartphones in Nepal since the beginning of April.

Redmi Note 7

There was the Redmi Note 7 with the 48MP rear camera for which we had to write a seperate post to explain the mechanics and trickery involved to make that camera work. There was Redmi 7 that launched alongside the Note 7, and then later came the Redmi Y3, which, at the end of the day, was a Redmi 7 with a better (higher res selfie camera).

Now, it turns out Xiaomi is gearing up to launch another budget phone. The phone hasn’t been announced yet but many people are postulating that this new phone is Redmi 7A.

The new phone appeared in Chinese regulatory site TENAA. The phone’s model number is M1903C3EC. While that doesn’t give us many clues about the phone, the specs do. The phone comes packing a 1.4 GHz octa-core chipset, 2GB to 4GB RAM, 16GB to 64GB internal storage, 3900mAh battery, and a 5.45 inch HD+ display.

This seems impressive for a phone that has to come around 15K or less. I am especially excited by the battery. This phone could become a two-day battery life phone for light users.

Other features that you would like to know about are the single rear-facing 13MP camera and a 5MP selfie camera. We didn’t expect much from a phone this price. The quality of the photos this camera produces, of course, will have to be inspected in person. Unsurprising for this price point, the phone has a headphone jack.

Until now, that’s all we know about this phone that Xiaomi will be launching pretty soon. While many of us speculate this phone to bear the name of Redmi 7A, we don’t know for sure.
