Nova 3e is the predecessor of the largely successful Nova 2i. Nova 2i was already a very good mid-range smartphone and with some design changes and improvements, Nova 3e looks to be the next best mid-range flagship phone. So, here are our top five reasons to buy Huawei Nova 3e.
Top 5 Reasons to Buy Huawei Nova 3e
Display
Just like it’s sibling it has a trendy edge to edge screen. The screen is an IPS LCD with a screen resolution of 1080*2280, the minimum bezels and the tall 19 by 9 aspect ratio means that the screen takes almost the whole surface of the phone. The display is vibrant, rich in color and ultimately it looks really beautiful. There’s a notch at the top but I do not hate the notch at all. It doesn’t get in the way of the content; most of the times it stays underneath it. However, nova 3e gives you the option to hide the notch with a black overlay.
The display looks crisp and has to be one of the best displays in its category. The colors are punchy and it’s bright enough. The viewing angles are great and you won’t have any problems with the display in outdoor condition too.
Design & Build Quality
The Nova 3e has a smooth looking glass build. The black variant of the phone looks sleek, shiny and gives off that executive vibe. However, a case is a must to protect it from dust, smudges, and fingerprints. The back is flat and houses a fingerprint sensor and vertical camera setup. There’s a single bottom firing speaker by the USB C port and next to it resides the 3.5mm headphone jack.
We get a hybrid dual sim slot on the left and all of the buttons are kept on the right. There are no doubts regarding the design and build quality of this device. The subtle glass design is well supported with the aluminum frame. On the overall, it looks beautiful and feels sturdy as well.
Dual Rear Camera
Nova 3e comes with a dual camera setup where the secondary 2 MP sensor only helps to capture depth information. Meaning you can capture photos with bokeh effect on the Nova 3e. The portrait photos are quite decent. In perfect daylight conditions, the portrait photos will come off awesome. And in Normal daylight, shots with the main 16MP sensor look good too. Also, I’ve noticed that its low light photos are better than the Nova 2i.
So it’s a definite upgrade over the Nova 2i when it comes to the camera. However, the camera modes are similar to that of the Nova 2i. There are plenty of modes such as pro photo, pro video, HDR, Night Shot, Panorama, Light painting, Slow-mo, and others. All in all, it’s a featured packed camera with decent image quality.
Improved Selfie Camera
Huawei has brought an upgraded 16MP selfie camera to the Nova 3e. It also has a wider field of view than the nova 2i, so you can fit more into the shots. We also tested it on the low light situations, and it performed pretty well. Similar to the rear camera, you can shoot portrait photos with the front camera as well. Selfies look quite good, the extra megapixels count certainly helps to capture more details. There’s also a high-quality mode for extra crispy selfies.
Software Features
One of the best things about Huawei devices is that you’ll get the latest Android OS. Thus, the Nova 3e comes with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. While EMUI might not be everyone’s choice, there have been some good improvements.
It comes with tons of features and most of them are usable. You’ll love the power saving modes on the Nova 3e. And the smart screen feature that changes the screen resolution between FHD+ and HD is equally handy. Other interesting and usable features include Simple Mode, Data Transfer, 3 finger screenshot, scroll screenshot, pedometer, and Huawei Health.
Also, you can increase your screen real state by hiding the navigation button. It gives you a little arrow and when you press that the navigation bar goes away and when you swipe up, it reappears! EMUI has improved a lot and you’ll get settled with it quite quickly.
