Oppo Reno 12 F Overview
Design
The Oppo Reno 12 F comes with a design overhaul to its predecessor. This time, the phone has a large centre-aligned circular camera island similar to Oppo’s flagship Find X8 series.
This phone also has an LED strip around the camera island, dubbed the Halo Light. Users can customise this lighting to sync with their music, charging, notifications, and so on with single or multi-colour effects.
Oppo says the Reno 12 F is “one tough cookie” hinting at its durability while highlighting it has a high-strength alloy framework and toughened AGC DT-Star2 glass for screen cover. On top of that, it is also IP64 water and dust-resistant.
The phone ships in Amber Orange, Olive Green, and Matte Grey colour options. The first option stands out amongst them with its fiery patterns. The latter two, on the other hand, look pretty standard.
Display
On the front, the Oppo Reno 12 F flaunts a 6.67-inch OLED panel with FHD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) resolution and 394PPI pixel density. The display can switch between 60 and 120Hz refresh rates while offering up to 180Hz touch sampling rate.
Talking of the vibrancy, it is an 8-bit panel with 16.7 million colour depth. Meanwhile, it covers the entirety of the DCI-P3 and sRGB colour gamut when on Vivid and Natural Mode respectively.
In terms of brightness, this display peaks at 2,100 nits, however, it normally sits at 600 nits and reaches 1,200 nits in high-brightness mode.
Other than that, the Oppo Reno 12 F features hardware-level blue light protection, bedtime mode colour adaptation, and maintains responsiveness even when the screen or hands are wet.
Hardware
The Snapdragon 685 processor acts as the brain of this device, which also means that it is a 4G-only device. Oppo previously introduced the 5G model of the Reno 11 F in the Nepali market. So, it seems a bit weird that they decided to go with the 4G option this time.
It would have been better if they brought the 5G model this time as well, as it has a slightly better chipset i.e. the MediaTek Dimensity 6300. But, can’t really complain since it got quite a significant price slash from the last time’s Rs. 43,999.
Other than that, the Oppo Reno 12 F is available in two configurations. Both options get an 8GB LPDDR4X RAM for the memory.
In the meantime, you can choose between 256GB and 512GB of UFS 2.2 ROM for storage. Only the former option is available here in Nepal.
While there is no storage expansion option on this phone, that is not the case for the memory. You can allocate up to 8GB of storage for virtual RAM.
Cameras
Optics-wise, you are looking at a 50MP primary shooter. Likewise, the Oppo Reno 12 F has an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro shooter as auxiliary units. Moving on to the front, it has a 32MP snapper for selfies and face scanning.
Both cameras can record 1080p@30fps videos, but neither supports stabilisation of any sort.
The Oppo Reno 12 F does come with a suite of image-related AI features. This includes AI Eraser for background subject removal, AI Smart Image Matting 2.0 for sticker creation, and AI Studio for things like face-swapping and AI-generated visual effects.
Battery and the rest
This phone has a 5,000mAh or 19.55Wh battery with 45W SUPERVOOC charging support. It also works with VOOC, PPS, and PD2.0 charging protocols. Either way, Oppo claims a full charge in 75 minutes.
The Oppo Reno 12 F boots on ColorOS 14.0.1 based on Android 14. Here, the company highlights Dynamic Island-like “Aqua Dynamics” and “File Dock” features. The latter lets you drag and drop files, images, and text into a unified space helping with productivity.
Oppo also mentions the “AI LinkBoost” feature that supposedly helps maintain connection in signal-scarce environments and rid signal glitches.
Lastly, there is the “BeaconLink” which is arguably the most interesting feature of this phone. With this, you can make phone calls even without a cellular signal. The phone utilises Bluetooth to connect with a device within 130 metres. This is similar to the walkie-talkie feature recent smartwatches like Xiaomi Watch S4 and Redmi Watch 5 offer.
But the catch is, it only works with Oppo and OnePlus devices running on ColorOS 14.1 or later.

The Oppo Reno 12 F comes in a lower 4G model in the Nepali market even though the company brought a 5G model of its predecessor. While that may seem like a weird move to make, the phone is nonetheless packed with interesting features.
Among all the available features, the BeaconLink is surely the stand-out allowing users to make short-range calls over Bluetooth.
