Oppo A76 Overview

Design

The Oppo A76 is available in two colors: Glowing Black and Glowing Blue. It has a plastic body with a shiny finish on the back that does not show fingerprint smudges.

The back sparkles and subtly changes in colour when the phone is rotated under bright lighting conditions. Furthermore, a familiar-looking camera island can be spotted.

The phone’s sides are curved, which should make it more comfortable to handle. Additionally, the right-side power button doubles as a fingerprint sensor.

Display

It features a large 6.56-inch 90Hz HD+ IPS LCD display that has a touch sampling rate of 180Hz. I would have preferred it if Oppo had instead included a 1080p display, but it is something that most people would not notice.

90Hz punch-hole display

Oppo claims the display covers 96% NTSC / 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut. It has a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner. And as is the case with the majority of phones in this price bracket, it has a relatively large chin.

Hardware

Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G chipset, the same chipset that powers a number of budget phones in 2022. It’s an octa-core processor with relatively old Kryo 265 CPU cores (4×2.4GHz Gold and 4×1.9GHz Silver) and an Adreno 610 GPU.

In terms of memory, it comes with 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. The 4GB variant is not available in Nepal yet. A dedicated microSD card slot is also given as an option to expand the storage.

Camera

The rear camera island has a dual-camera setup. The setup comprises a 13MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor.

For the selfies, the device sports an 8MP front-facing camera. Both the front and back cameras are capable of recording video up to 1080p at 30fps.

Battery and Software

A 5,000mAh battery fuels the Oppo A76. The device also supports up to 33W fast charging with its proprietary SuperVOOC fast-charging technology.

The smartphone runs on ColorOS 11.1 out-of-the-box on top of Android 11.

The Oppo A76 is equipped with a Snapdragon 680 processor. While it’s not the best processor that could have powered the budget phones in 2022, it’s good to see that a brand like Oppo, which is not known for having a competitive chipset, has included one, allowing the phone to compete with the similarly priced phones in terms of performance, which was previously not the case.

The phone also supports 33W SuperVOOC fast-charging and a 90Hz-refresh-rate display. However, the display is limited to 720p resolution only.
