Nokia Launches Three New Smartphones in Nepal

There was a time when Nokia was the largest mobile seller in the globe. Nokia 3310 was the holy grail of smartphone innovation at the time. But today, Nokia is one of the most struggling smartphone manufacturers in Nepal. Recently, Nokia has tried to make a comeback in the International as well as the Nepali market by releasing phones like the Nokia 6 and Nokia 3.

Though not able to make a tight grasp of the market capital, this phone certainly paved a way for Nokia smartphones in Nepal. Recently Nokia has launched three new smartphones in Nepal: Nokia 1, Nokia 6 Plus and Nokia 7 Plus.

Nokia 1

Nokia 1 is more of a low budget smartphone, which compares to the phones like the Colors S11, Otto Frank 7 and Lava Iris 810. You are getting a MediaTek Quad Core processor and a gigabyte of RAM for less than 10 grand. With the brand name of Nokia and how nice and sturdy the device look, I believe that this smartphone is a fair bargain. On top of that, you are getting an Android 8.0 version of this device. Nokia 7 Plus

Nokia 7 Plus is kind of a “belonging nowhere” smartphone. It has a price that is way high to be called a mid-range smartphone while it doesn’t have enough specs to be called a top-tier smartphone. There is no doubt that the Snapdragon 660 is a powerful chip and it is great to have on a mid-range smartphone, but customers expect more than the SD 660 in a phone for which they are going to pay over 45 grand.

The camera on this smartphone is another eye-catcher. The camera looks great on paper at least. You are getting dual 12-megapixel cameras with Zeiss lens which is known to make great smartphone lenses. The Nokia 7 Plus price in Nepal is set Rs. 46,899.

Impressions

Nokia, though not able to fully recover to their prime, has been releasing many new smartphones in the recent past. Nokia was in its downfall when the Lumia phones were in its lineup. We can expect the company to gain market share in the future but to be noted that this is just an assertion. If Nokia releases a smartphone with great specs for less price than its competitors, then who knows? Maybe they might be huge like they were before.

About the smartphones, they released recently. Nokia 1 and Nokia 6 Plus are certainly on par with its competitors but the Nokia 7 Plus doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t understand what Nokia was trying to do with this device. They would be better off releasing a better phone for a little bit more. This doesn’t exactly fit anywhere. So, I am not quite impressed.

I really think that the Nokia 6 Plus will be a great success if the phone is really optimized as it looks on paper. But we have to wait and see how the phone actually is. You can buy these smartphones from Paramount Electronics in New Road, Kathmandu.
