The Department of Hydrology & Meteorology and NT(Nepal Telecom) had signed an agreement last year allowing the department to use Nepal Telecom’s service free of cost to send SMS for awareness as the need arises. It has made full use of this agreement by sending SMS quickly and timely.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has alerted around 486,000 people about possible floods and landslides in their areas. And it has had a huge impact on many lives.
