We are amidst an unprecedented week-long lockdown. While we might have the urge to complete our unfinished chores, the government is, surprisingly, doing its part to ease our discomfort.
Previously, the NRB increased the daily & monthly limits on a digital transaction. Likewise, the digital wallet apps like e-Sewa, IPSconnect, Khalti, and others have removed the bank-to-bank transaction fee.
This is done in an effort to keep people comfortable with the idea of staying at home and practice social distancing.
Interestingly, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced its plans to do something similar. It has decided that the dates to clear the electricity bill are extended indefinitely. Furthermore, it is done to prevent consumers from rushing to the payment counter to clear their dues, which might increase the risk of virus transmission.
Moreover, NEA will not impose any fines or cut-off power to such household for a time being. Subsequently, all staffers of NEA would be on duty to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to every household. All the while, the government will take extra measures to ensure the safety of staffers at the ‘no light’ section and load dispatch center.
If you have an outstanding bill, you don’t need to worry. Just stay at home! However, if you are able to, the government urges consumers to pay the bill via online services.
Likewise, the government will not halt under-construction hydropower and irrigation projects. However, the manpower engaged in those projects will be kept on isolation.
