Motorola Moto E7 Power Review
Good Design
- 165.1 x 75.9 x 9.2 mm
- 200 g
- Hybrid Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by)
- IP52 Water Repellent Design
Motorola nailed the design of the Moto E7 Power. With the unibody design, the matte plastic back curves at the edges to give it a smooth look.
Dual cameras are arranged vertically on the left while the fingerprint sensor is placed in the middle. Motorola has also provided a textured button and a dedicated assistant button to make it stand out from the crowd. Moving on, it also features a USB Type C port which is very good for the price.
Everything about Moto E7 Power’s design is good for the price. However, the speaker placement on the rear panel is questionable.
Else, it’s a very good-looking phone for the price.
Big Display
- 6.5 inches
- 720 x 1600 pixels
- 20:9 ratio
The 6.5 inches HD display of the Moto E7 Power does a decent job. It does not have a vibrant color profile but I’m not complaining at this price point.
The panel does not get particularly bright though. However, I did not have any problems using it outdoors under sunlight. The HD panel feels plenty sharp and the viewing angles are good as well.
Performance
- MediaTek Helio G25 (12 nm)
- Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.5 GHz Cortex-A53)
- PowerVR GE8320
- 32GB 2GB RAM
Under the hood, the Helio G25 chipset keeps things pretty neat and tidy. But the 2GB RAM limits its performance.
You will find the Moto E7 decent most of the time but it is not flawless.
You will notice some lags here and there while navigating the UI or switching between apps.
As for gaming, I did try COD Mobile on the lowest graphics setting and it is playable. Yes, it won’t be smooth all the time but you can play high-end games too.
Helio G25 is clearly giving it a good performance but a little boost in RAM would have made it much better.
Camera
- Rear Camera: 13 MP, f/2.0, 26mm (wide), 1/3.1″, 1.12µm, PDAF
- 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro)
- Video: 1080p@30fps
- Front Camera: 5 MP, f/2.2, 27mm (wide), 1.12µm
- Video: 1080p@30fps
On the camera front, Moto E7 power rocks a dual-camera setup with a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP macro sensor.
NORMAL PHOTOS
For a budget phone, Moto E7 Power has a pretty good camera. The 13MP sensor produces good photos under daylight with natural colors and good exposure.
The dynamic range is decent and the amount of detail is not bad either.
However, it doesn’t perform well under low light and night conditions. The photos have plenty of noise and some photos might turn out blur. Furthermore, there’s no Night Mode to improve the quality.
PORTRAIT AND MACRO MODE
E7 Power does have a portrait mode and it works surprisingly well. Edge detection is not gonna be perfect but it is not bad either. The background blur looks nice and the backlight is kept under check as well.
On to the macro photos, the 2MP sensor doesn’t provide good detail. The photos lack sharpness and the exposure is not on point. They could have just skipped the macro sensor on this phone.
FRONT CAMERA
Now on to the front camera, the 5MP sensor does not provide the best detail for the price. Also, some photos may get washed out due to excessive backlight.
Photos lack sharpness and look a bit flat.
There’s portrait mode on the front camera too but it is not as good as the rear camera. You lose HDR and the photos get washed out.
Video
Like most budget smartphones, E7 Power can capture up to 1080p 30fps videos from the rear camera.
Videos look soft and lack sharpness but the color profile and dynamic range are decent. The overall video quality is pretty average.
Battery and Charging
- Non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery
- Charging 10W
- USB Type-C 2.0
The 5000mAh battery can easily last for more than a day on moderate usage. You could also stretch its battery life up to 2 days under minimal usage.
It doesn’t support fast charging and the included 10W charger takes upwards of 3 hours and 30 mins to fully charge the device.
Security
The rear fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate. I did not have any problems with it.

And, it gets a Face Unlock feature which works well under good lighting.
Software
- Android 10
Motorola has stuck with its stock Android skin. It is a clean UI and has good Google services integration.
There’s the usual right swipe to Google news and some gesture-based shortcuts such as ‘chop to flashlight’.
There are not many options in terms of themes and customization but the stock feel of the E7 power provides a pleasing experience. On top of that, Motorola will also provide 2 years of software updates.
Should You Buy Motorola Moto E7 Power?
If you want a clean Android experience on budget, you should definitely give it a shot.
