Mahabir Pun is developing a mobile app to help patients with paralysis to communicate their needs to their caretakers.
Pun and his team are developing a sensor to be placed on the patient’s wounds that would send messages to the caretaker’s mobile phone containing the needs and state of the patient. The sensors will detect the physical and mental conditions of the patients such as hunger and defecation.
To implement the new application, an MoU was signed among the Ministry of Health, Nepal Health Research Council and the National Innovation Centre.
Mahabir Pun shared that, with the development of this app, paralysis patients across the world would be benefitted hugely. He also said that the application will be made use of within a year as half of the development is already over.
