Mivi Duopods A25 Review: Bassy Sound!

In July 2022, Indian electronics brand Mivi, popular for its audio products, officially entered Nepal. The Mivi Duopods A25 is one of the seven audio products the company debuted in Nepal.

The Mivi Duopods A25 price in Nepal is Rs. 2,699. It is available for purchase via Daraz Nepal.

The Mivi Duopods A25 is a budget-friendly TWS earphone. Among the three available TWS, the Duopods A25 is the most expensive one.

I have been using the earphones for a little over a week. So, I will be sharing my experience with the device in this Mivi Duopods A25 review article.

Mivi Duopods A25 Review

Design and Fit

• 3.5 g (each bud)
• 35 g (charging case)
• IPX4 rating

The Mivi Duopods A25 comes with a plastic charging capsule with a matte finish. I have it in black and it has the Mivi branding on the top. The charging case has a nice design; it is lightweight, small, and feels well-constructed for the price.

There is a USB-C charging port on the back, but it does not have any LED indicators on the outside of the case. It’s because the indicators are placed inside the capsule.

I found it a little hard to open the case as the marking that separates the upper lid from the base is not that large enough to provide a good grip. It has caused me to slip the case from my hands a few times.

Inside the case sits two earphones nicely, attached magnetically. The earbuds are automatically turned on and are ready to connect once you take them out of the case.

The lightweight earbuds are comfortable and secure.

The buds are lightweight and fit snugly. If it happens to not fit your ear, the Mivi Duopods A25 comes with two extra ear tips of different sizes. For me, the middle-sized ear tip fitted comfortably. I could put it in for hours without feeling uncomfortable.

According to Mivi, the earbuds are IPX4 certified. It means that it can also survive sweat and splashes of water. The front of the earbuds somewhat resembles the design of the Apple Airpods Pro, but from the back, you can see that the upper stems are curved at an angle.

Putting the earbuds back into the charging capsule will light up the LED indicators in the case, indicating the battery level. An LED indicator on the earbuds also glows red to show that it’s charging.

Touch Controls

The stems of the earbuds also support touch response. You can single-tap either of the buds to play or pause songs. It works most of the time but there is a delay of around a second.

Tapping twice or thrice will play the previous or next track, but I found that the earbuds had trouble sensing multiple touches. When I would try to skip the song, it would mostly just pause the song. So, it’s a hit or miss.

When receiving a call, it also allows to accept (singe-tap) or decline (touch and hold for 2 seconds) the call. When receiving a third-party call, it allows you to answer the call while keeping the current call on hold (tap twice), end the current call and resume the previous call (tap once), or toggle between current and previous calls (tap twice).

Tapping the earbuds thrice when not playing music will fire up the voice assistant. But as I just mentioned, all these touch functions are great when they work as intended, which is, sadly, not always the case.

Sound Quality

• 10mm dynamic audio driver

Being an in-ear earphone, the Mivi Duopods A25 does a good job of passively blocking outside noise. So, it is easier to enjoy the music with no distraction, even at low volumes.

The earbuds produce good bass with crisp vocals. One of the songs I listened to on it was Clean Bandit’s “Symphony,” featuring Zara Larsson. I enjoyed the start of the song with the clear voice and the gentle piano. As the song progresses, the orchestral elements grow more prominent, and I become completely immersed in the music.

I am impressed by the overall sound these earbuds produce, especially considering the price.

The buds enhance the bass while delivering clear vocals and musical separation. If you’re someone who prefers a good bass, you’ll love the Mivi Duopods A25.

Connectivity

• Bluetooth 5.0

The earbuds support Bluetooth 5.0. The earbuds connect to smartphones and laptops without any problem. It even connects automatically with the paired device when taking the buds out from the charging capsule.

However, I usually had a strange problem when connecting to a laptop. The Duopods A25 earphones sound really choppy every time I connect them to my laptop. Then, to get the earbuds to function correctly, I always had to disconnect and reconnect them.

The Bluetooth range of the earphones was fine up to 20 feet, however once beyond that, the signal quality began to drop.

Battery

• Up to 7.5 hours playback with a single charge (advertised)
• Total 40 hours playback with a battery case (advertised)

Mivi claimed that the earbuds would last 7.5 hours on a single charge. And combined with the battery case, it could last for 40 hours.

That claim did not match my use case, but nevertheless, the battery life of the Duopods A25 is pretty good.

The earphones without the charging case lasted me 5 to 6 hours when I listened to music at a volume of roughly 60 to 70%.

I’m not sure how long the earphones’ battery lasted with the charging case, but during my one-week experience, I only needed to charge the case once, so I imagine most people will be fine with that. During that period, I used the earphones for around 1 to 2 hours a day on average.

The charging case has a USB-C port, which is really good to see in budget earbuds. Otherwise, most of the other earbuds come with a Micro-USB port.

Conclusion

Wrapping up the Mivi Duopods A25 review, for the price, I like how it looks, is built, and sounds. The earbuds are comfortable. It produces a bassy sound that can isolate you from the environment.

The IPX4 rating makes you worry less when sweating. Above all, it has a fantastic battery life that easily lasted me days.
