Lava, that’s a name I haven’t heard for a while. Maybe they were underground creating some new products to get back in the game?
Well whatever they were doing, it looks like they’ve finally surfaced with their new Lava Iris 43 in the low-budget section. The newly launched Lava Iris 43 price in Nepal is Rs. 5,899. This is truly a price that represents low-budget section. So, at Rs. 5,899 what are the things to expect from this device? Let’s have a quick look at the overview of the device.
Lava Iris 43: What to Expect?
Lava Iris 43 stands at 5” with a TFT display at 480 x 854 resolution. It has huge bezels in the top as well as the bottom which cannot be removed easily at this price. The phone is powered by a Spreadtrum SC7731 and a storage of 1/16GB. The processor as well as memory are backed by a 2000 mAh battery which should be decent enough to last half a day.Moving on to the camera section, the rear consists of a 5MP sensor with an LED Flash. I don’t know how good they are. But, considering other 5MP sensors, it should get good enough photos. The front consists of a 2MP sensor. What’s surprising about this front camera is that it is capable of face unlock. And the company acclaims that it will unlock the phone in 0.7 seconds! Not the best but still wow, I wasn’t expecting that at all.

The other part which is interesting is that it is a phone under the Android GO project. The GO project is a light version of the Android OS made specifically the lower end devices to make them faster. Because of this, all applications run light and quite smoothly in 1GB memory environment. It’s currently running an Android 8.0 (GO based) OS which is pretty awesome.

Is it worth buying?
For a phone at just Rs. 5,899 it has some really cool features. Honestly, the face unlock and Android Go features really got me intrigued about the phone. Something feels incomplete, though. I was kind of expecting the phone to be available in 2GB as well. If it were, it would be a really great device.

In contrast, there are some other devices like Redmi Go and Redmi 4A which are currently at the top with better features. If you are willing to spend Rs. 3,000, these devices are really great and worth the money. Nonetheless, if you’re looking for a phone under Rs. 6000, this may be the appropriate choice.
