A few days ago, KTM freshly launched the all-new 125cc segment motorcycle in its category. Yes, you heard it right, “KTM Duke with a 125cc engine”. It’s both exciting and intriguing at the same time. Why? Excitement because it brings another great addition to the already solid Duke lineup. And, intriguing because of its “affordable” price.
According to the reports, Duke 125 is now available in India, with the price range of Indian Rs. 1.18 Lakhs. Ironically, it can be considered affordable when compared to its siblings like Duke 200, Duke 250, and Duke 390. Following the trends, the Duke 125 price in Nepal is set at Rs. 4,49,000!
Talking about the price, the price tag of Rs. 4.49 Lakhs seems totally unreasonable, especially when you can get a KTM Duke 200 (non-ABS version) for just Rs. 4.99 Lakhs. Honestly, your hype surrounding the launch of Duke 125 will be killed as soon as you take a look at the price.

Again, according to KTM Nepal, we will not see the launch of KTM RC 125 in Nepal. Who knows? It might.
KTM Duke 125 Overview
Duke 125 follows the same design principle as its high-performance cousin. You can even consider it to be an exact replica of the Duke 390, sharing few parts like chassis and architecture with Duke 200. Although it is just a 125cc motorcycle, it will feature a liquid-cooled FI-engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Performance-wise, it produced up to 15BHP of max power along with 12Nm of Torque. Considering the performance number, it is very close to the power outputs from motorcycles at 150cc and 160cc segment.
Moreover, you’ll also get stand out features like the `fully digital instrument cluster, backlit switches, premium WP suspension, and efficient brakes. Except for the one visual difference, you’ll notice is the new “125” sticker on the iconic tank. As a cost-cutting method, you will miss out on more premium features like Single channel ABS (unconfirmed) and Split Headlamps, among others. Since there will be a certain difference between the Indian version and the international version. A lot of which can be definitive when the bike makes its way into Nepal.
My Thoughts on Duke 125?
The traditional comparison will not work against the new Duke 125. Imagine people comparing it to the likes of Bajaj Discover 125 or Honda CB Shine. Duke 125 is miles apart, offering more than just a 125cc engine. For starters, you have a Fuel-Injection Engine paired with a liquid-cooled system on that very 125cc engine. It’s a combination rarer than seeing an Engine-Kill Switch on a Honda motorcycle.
Yes, KTM did a great job putting things just right without going overboard. Duke 125 gives people what they’ve been asking for—an affordable Duke. And, if they do get the pricing right, they will win hands-down against new competition like Aprilia SR1 25 and Yamaha XTZ 125.
Furthermore, it might just go head-on against the old competition like Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 and Fazer 25. Maybe riders will jump on it when the opportunity comes forth. Because at the end of the day, it’s a Duke motorcycle!
