iPhone 16 Pro Overview
Apple Intelligence
The iPhone 16 Pro comes with iOS 18 which was supposed to feature Apple Intelligence AI features. However, Apple Intelligence is set to debut via the iOS 18.1 update.
One of the exciting features is Genmoji, taking custom emojis to a whole new level. With this, users can create original emojis by simply typing a description or by selecting a photo.
Siri also gets an upgrade via Apple Intelligence as it is now more deeply integrated into the system experience. It also has a revamped design featuring a glowing light that wraps around the edge of the screen when active.
Apple Intelligence also introduces systemwide Writing Tools designed to enhance productivity across various apps. This will allow users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text seamlessly within native apps like Mail and Notes, as well as third-party platforms. Additionally, the Notes and Phone app will also support audio recording, transcription, and summarization.
Along with these features, Apple will also roll out the Image Playground feature allowing users to create playful images in moments. Likewise, users will also be able to easily access ChatGPT from OpenAi.
Design
Apple continues to uphold its iconic triple-camera design with the iPhone 16 Pro while making small enhancements. One of the noticeable changes is the increment in size. The iPhone 16 Pro now features a larger display, making it slightly bigger than its predecessor, the iPhone 15 Pro.
Things remain the same on the front as well. But, Apple has reduced the screen bezels to give it a sleeker and more immersive appearance. Thus, they claim that the iPhone 16 Pro series boasts the thinnest borders ever on any Apple product. Moreover, the display is reinforced with the latest-generation Ceramic Shield, which is said to be 2x tougher than other smartphone glass.
One of the main changes is the addition of the new dedicated Camera Control button. Placed below the power button, it provides quick and easy access to the camera app.
For protection, the iPhone 16 Pro is IP68 rated for dust, splash, and water resistance. Likewise, the frame is still made from titanium material introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro series. The available colors are black, white, natural, and a new desert titanium.

Camera Control
The dedicated camera button is the new exciting feature on the iPhone 16 Pro. As the name suggests, it helps to quickly launch the camera, take a photo, or start video recording.
It features a high-precision force sensor that enables the light press gesture and a capacitive sensor that allows for touch interactions.
On pressing and sliding the camera button, you get to adjust and control options such as zoom, exposure, or depth of field. Additionally, developers will be able to bring Camera Control to third-party apps such as Snapchat.
Display
The iPhone 16 Pro has a bigger 6.3-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display with ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate support. The display has a 1206 x 2622 pixels resolution, resulting in 460 ppi pixel density.
The claimed brightness level is the same as before with 1000 nits max brightness, 1600 nits HDR peak brightness, and 2000 nits HBM brightness.
Hardware
The iPhone 16 Pro introduces the new A18 Pro chip. Built with second-generation 3nm technology and a 17 percent system memory bandwidth increase, the A18 Pro is a more powerful and efficient chipset.
The 16-core Neural Engine is faster and more efficient, powering on-device performance for Apple Intelligence. Apple says the 6-core GPU is 20 percent faster than the A17 Pro, making render for Apple Intelligence and visuals for gaming much better.
A new 6-core CPU is the fastest in a smartphone, with two performance cores and four efficiency cores that can run the same workload as the previous generation 15 percent faster while using 20 percent less power, Apple says.
As for the storage, the 16 Pro comes with 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. The iPhone 16 Pro also introduces Wi-Fi 7 support.
Camera
The iPhone has an upgraded triple rear camera setup. Leading the pack is the new 48MP Fusion camera, which features a faster, more efficient quad-pixel sensor. This powerful camera now supports 4K video recording at 120fps in Dolby Vision. Apple also claims the sensor can read data 2x faster, significantly reducing shutter lag when capturing high-resolution 48MP ProRAW or HEIF photos.
In addition, the iPhone 16 Pro boasts a new 48MP ultrawide camera with a quad-pixel sensor and autofocus, enhancing landscape shots and close-up details. The 12MP 5x telephoto camera remains a key feature, delivering sharp zoom capabilities.
One of the standout features is the ability to capture spatial photos alongside videos, designed for immersive playback on the Apple Vision Pro, marking a new frontier in 3D visual experiences.
Users can capture 4K 120fps in Slo-mo or Video mode, and adjust the playback speed after capture in the Photos app, including a quarter-speed playback, a new half-speed option for a dreamy effect, and a fifth-speed option that corresponds to 24fps.
Users can also capture 4K 120fps ProRes and Log directly to an external storage device for efficient pro workflows. Furthermore, the phone has four new studio-quality mics for recording true-to-life sounds.
The front has a 12MP selfie camera with OIS, which can shoot up to 4K 60fps video.
Battery and OS
Apple says the iPhone 16 Pro has a larger 3582 mAh battery compared to iPhone 15 Pro’s 3274 mAh battery. Apple claims the 16 Pro can provide up to 27 hours of video playback. A 17.39% increment from iPhone 15 Pro’s 23 hours of claimed video playback.
For charging, the phone USB-C wired charging that Apple says can charge up to 50 percent in around 30 minutes with 20W adapter or higher.
It also supports wireless charging, which takes the same time but with a 30W adapter or higher MagSafe charger. MagSafe wireless charging is supported up to 25W, while Qi2 charging up to 15W, and Qi wireless charging up to 7.5W.
The smartphone runs iOS 18 out of the box, introducing Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver intelligence.
