iPhone 15 Plus Overview
Design
The iPhone 15 Plus doesn’t get the Action button that was featured on the Pro and Pro Max models. Instead, it still uses the alert slider.
The phone features an Aluminum frame along with a Ceramic Shield front but the back is what looks interesting. The back is made with Color-infused glass, a custom dual ion-exchange process for the glass. Basically, superfine metallic ions embed color into the glass and then the glass is polished to create the textured matte finish.
What’s also new is the Dynamic Island. In the iPhone 14 series, only the pro models got the Dynamic Island. But in the 15 series, even the non-pro models have gotten this feature. In case you do not know what it is, the notch transforms into an island to display alerts and live activities. You are able to track your ride, see who’s calling, and much more.
The phone is available in 5 color options: Black, Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink
Display
Alright, this phone has pretty much the same specs as the last-generation phone when it comes to the display. It’s a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display.
The sharpness, however, has increased from 458ppi to 460ppi, and the brightness has been bumped from 800nits to 1000nits. The peak brightness has also increased to 2000nits, now matching that of the pro variants.
However, the Always-on display is not available on this non-pro model.
Hardware
The Non-Pro models don’t get the A17 Pro chip, instead, they get the A16 Bionic from the last generation Pro models. We call it last-generation, but the performance of this chip is nothing to sneeze at.
The 4 nm-based Hexa Core processor features 2×3.46 GHz Everest + 4×2.02 GHz Sawtooth. It’s a top-tier chip that has proven its performance capabilities.
The phone comes in 3 storage options: 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
Camera
The iPhone 15 Plus features a dual camera setup. A 48 MP f/1.6 main sensor, and a 12MP f/2.4 120˚ ultrawide. Apple does advertise a 2x Telephoto but it’s not optical and instead a crop from the main sensor.
Other than the telephoto lens, the 15 Plus gets pretty much the same treatment as the Pro models. It uses the same Photonic Engine and benefits from this engine are very much available on this model as well.
The 15 Plus can’t shoot 10-bit HDR videos or ProRes like the Pros can but otherwise features the same video capabilities. A capable 4K@60fps shooter with Dolby Vision HDR.
The front has a 12MP f1.9 camera and can shoot up to 4K@60fps videos.
Battery and OS
Apple hasn’t specified the capacity of the battery but made claims that the phone can last up to 26 hours of Video playback and up to 100 hours of Audio playback. A simple mAh rating would’ve sufficed but they had to do it the Apple way.
The phone supports 7.5W Qi wireless charging and MagSafe wireless charging up to 15W. Apple also claims a 50% charge in around 30 minutes with a 20W adapter (sold separately).
The smartphone runs iOS 17 out of the box. For more details about the OS, you can go here.
iPhone 15 Plus Price in Nepal and Availability
The iPhone 15 Plus price in Nepal is Rs. 1,64,990 (128GB), Rs. 1,83,490 (256GB), and Rs. 2,20,990 (512GB). The phone is available for purchase from stores like EvoStore and Oliz Store.
iPhone 15 Plus | Price in Nepal (November 2024) |
---|---|
128GB | Rs. 154200 |
256GB | Rs. 173000 |
512GB | Rs. 210800 |
In our opinion, the iPhone 15 Plus doesn’t miss out on too many features compared to the Pro. But of course, if you’re someone who uses the Telephoto lens a lot, you would prefer the Pro model.
The design of the 15 Plus works well with the sharp display and the storage options are plenty enough. You may be worried about missing out on the performance of the A17 Pro chip but the A16 is a solid performer in its own right.
Something that’s quite not up to spec would be the USB Type-C 2.0 on the non-pro models. This can be a crutch for some users who need to transfer files from their phone to a laptop maybe. Personally, we can’t find much to complain about the iPhone 15 Plus, even compared to the Pro versions.
