Huawei Y9s with Kirin 710F Processor, 48MP Triple Camera Launched in Nepal

Slowly but steadily, Huawei recently launched its flagship device Huawei Mate 30 Pro in Nepal. Alongside, Huawei was also preparing for the launch of their mid-ranger around 2 weeks ago. If you remember well, I wrote saying that the new mid-ranger aka the Huawei Y9s was soon going to release in Nepal. Well, that day has finally arrived. The Y9s has officially been launched in Nepal. The Huawei Y9s price in Nepal is set Rs. 32,900.

Technically, the Y9s is not entirely a stranger to the Nepali market. It’s actually similar to Honor’s Honor 9X. If you have been following us, you must already know that Honor Nepal recently launched Honor 9X in Nepal at Rs. 29,990. Now, for additional Rs 3,000 should you consider upgrading to this model? Well, I do have some mixed feelings about the device, which I shall mention in a while but for now let’s go through the specifications once.

Huawei Y9s: A Quick Overview

The design of the Huawei Y9s is pretty much the standard mid-range type. It’s got glass on the front as well as the back with aluminum frames on the sides. The rear is fairly clean with just the vertical triple cameras on the left side. What about the fingerprint sensor? Well, they’re physical sensors that are side-mounted.

The phone is quite tall with its 6.59” FullView IPS LCD screen with an FHD+ resolution. The best part about the screen is that there is no notch at all! The front camera is placed under the retractable pop-up mechanism.

Under the hood, the phone hides a Kirin 710F processor paired with 6/128GB internals. Considering the processor, the performance of the device should be good in my opinion. The phone runs on EMUI 9.1 on top of Android 9. The phone does support google apps entirely so, no worries on that part. Personally, not a huge fan of the EMUI interface and would skip on it entirely if given the choice.

Moving on, the phone features a rear triple camera layout with the 48MP sensor in the spotlight. In addition, the 8MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensor back up the primary sensor pretty well. As mentioned earlier, there’s a 16MP selfie camera on the pop-up mechanism.

Finally, the phone features a respectable 4000 mAh battery. The battery life is quite remarkable but the same cannot be said for the charger. The phone does not support fast charging and comes with a 10W charger right out of the box. Charging this phone is going to be a painful waiting process.

Huawei Y9s Price in Nepal, Thoughts, and Availability

In general, the phone is quite great on its own. The full-view display, 48MP camera sensor, and 4000mAh battery life are all worth it. But it does have its own flaws.

First, there’s no fast charge at all which means that the phone will take a long time to juice up. Second, for me, the EMUI interface is just too heavy and I’d prefer a stock experience over this interface. And at last, while the 710F processor is quite alright, there’re many other phones that are a better choice when it comes to processing power.

As expected, the phone did manage to cross the Rs. 30,000 mark. And frankly, this pricing is the part where I’m not quite satisfied with. Don’t get me wrong, the Huawei Y9s is surely a hot piece of tech but it just doesn’t put up that much of a competition when placed with the others. Take the Redmi Note 8 Pro as a competitor, its just perfect for the price. MediaTek Helio G90T, flexibility in storage, 64MP centered quad camera array, and a massive 4500mAh battery with 18W charger, is just plainly impressive. The Huawei Y9s just feels a little dull in front of the Note 8 Pro, does it not?
