Huawei Nova 3 and 3i are the latest additions from Huawei to their successful Nova lineup. These devices were launched a few months ago in July. Both devices were able to get hold of a lot of customers because of their extensive features and impressive design. And still, these devices are one of the best smartphones on its price range and have a lot more to offer than it meets the eye. So without further ado, let’s look at the top features of the Huawei Nova 3 and 3i.
Huawei Nova 3 and 3i: Top Features
Design & Build
The Nova 3 and 3i sports a similar glass panel with an aluminum frame design that we’ve seen from Huawei’s premium offering. This is a huge plus as the latest phone once again belies its actual price tag with a look and feel that could go toe-to-toe with some flagship smartphones. With some design cues from Huawei’s premium lineup, the Nova 3 and 3i carries a dual camera setup on the back along with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Also, one of the unique features of Huawei phones is the gradient back. Both, Nova 3 and 3i come with this color option and it looks really good. Build quality and design is where Huawei doesn’t compromise in its smartphone and that is why it is one of the top features of the Nova 3 and Nova 3i.
Display
Both, Nova 3 and 3i sports the trendy edge to edge screen. They use an LCD panel with a screen resolution of 1080*2340, the minimum bezels and the tall 19.5 by 9 aspect ratio means that the screen takes almost the whole surface of the phone. They look crisp and has to be one of the best displays in the mid-range smartphones. The colors are punchy and it’s bright enough. The viewing angles are great and you won’t have any problems with the display in outdoor condition too. Out of the box, they are set to a default color mode. This can be switched to a far cooler mode or a warmer mode in the display settings menu.
Hardware and Performance
In terms of hardware, Huawei Nova 3 rocks a flagship level Kirin 970 chipset along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. Whereas, the Nova 3i comes with Huawei’s Kirin 710 chipset and 4GB of RAM. Both of these chipsets are quite capable. Normal tasks such as opening apps, switching between multiple apps, and web browsing is a breeze. Also, you will have a good time playing some heavy games like PUBG and Asphalt 9. Especially, the Nova 3 can run these games comfortably at optimal max settings.
Battery
We get a larger 3750 mAh battery on the Nova 3 and a respectable 3340 mAh on the Nova 3i. Nova 3 was consistently providing 4+ hours of screen on time and per my usage, it’s excellent so there’s no problem with battery here. But if you use it wisely, like if you are a moderate user you will be able to make it last almost 2 days. And it’s great that Huawei managed to chip in such a large battery in such a slim phone! Similarly, the Nova 3i has a great battery life as well. It is not as good as the Nova 3 but you can easily make it last more than a day under moderate usage. Even for heavy users, the Nova 3i will give you a full day of battery life. The GPU Turbo also helps in this matter as it optimizes the GPU usage while gaming.
Camera
The Nova 3 and 3i both sports a primary 24MP f/2.0 lens and a 2MP lens on the front. On the rear, Nova 3 rocks a 16MP f/1.8 primary sensor and a 24MP monochrome sensor. Meanwhile, Nova 3i has a 16 MP f2.2 primary rear sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The best thing about the Nova 3 and 3i’s front camera is the inclusion of the HDR Pro mode. Seflies with bright background have controlled exposure and have a good amount of details. They also come with portrait mode and it’s quite decent.
The rear camera performance is admirably good on both of these phones but Nova 3 is surprisingly one of the better camera smartphones. You can check it’s real-life performance and comparison with other phones here. Though we do not have a full camera comparison of Nova 3i, the rear camera on the Nova 3i is decent as well. The pictures are sharp, vibrant, and have well balanced dynamic range.
So, these were the Huawei Nova 3 and 3i’s top features. Let us know what you think is the best feature of these phones in the comments below!
