Huawei Nova 2s with 6-inch Bezel-Less Display, 6GB RAM Launched

Huawei, a Chinese multinational service company, is in a spree of launching new phones for the past few weeks. The latest launch in China was the Huawei Nova 2s smartphone, which sports a quad-camera along with the almost bezel-less display.

If this smartphone lands in Nepal, we expect the Huawei Nova 2s price in Nepal to be around Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 55,000 depending on which version you pick. However, with enough Huawei smartphones to choose from already, Huawei might skip this iteration for the Nepali market.

Specification Outline

This phone comes with 5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels sporting a pixel density of 402 ppi. It consists of an almost bezel-less screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. The reflective glass backing makes the phone a spectacle. The device is powered by 2.3 GHz octa-core Kirin 960 processor. There are three versions of the phone depending on the memory:

  • with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage,
  • with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, and
  • with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage

Each variant supports micro SD expansion up to 256 GB. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top.

The Huawei Nova 2s has a dual camera setup on the rear with a 16-megapixel RGB sensor with an aperture of f/1.8, and one 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with a 120-degree wide-angle lens and an aperture of f/1.8. Impressions

Believe it or not, this device is still supposed to be a mid-range phone but its specifications push it to flagship territory. The Nova lineup of phones straddles the line between mid-tier the value flagship territory. This one is no different. With practical upgrades like fast charging, USB Type-C and variety of specifications, users can not only find the right specifications on the device but also at a reasonable price. It is a significant upgrade to the four camera setup from the Huawei Nova 2i with a wide-angle lens and a front flash. All in all, it is a powerful phone.

However, because of its specifications and pricing, it is in competition with another bang for the buck phones: OnePlus. While this phone is slightly cheaper(considering expected price), the OnePlus counterparts are more expensive for better specifications and more stock like software. Availability of this phone is another major issue as Huawei have yet to announce where it will launch the phone other than China. They can skip the Nepali market for this one as they have done for the other devices in the past.
