Hero Destini 125, with i3S System, Launched in Nepal for Rs. 2,06,000!

We’ve got some pretty exciting news! Well, the title might’ve given it away but pretend you’re hearing it for the very first time.

So, Hero MotoCorp has launched the all-new Hero Destini 125 in Nepal. If you didn’t know, this marks as Hero’s first entry into the 125cc scooter category. While the 125cc category definitely has certain A+ players like TVS NTorq, Aprilia SR 125, Suzuki Burgman Street, Honda Grazia, and entire Vespa line-up. Hero Destini 125 has to offer something unique to stand out from this ever-growing crowd.

Today, we’ll dive slightly deeper into what Hero Destini 125 brings forth to the table. Will Hero Destini 125 be the underdog Hero has been waiting for? Well, let’s find out! As for the pricing, the Hero Destini 125 price in Nepal is Rs. 2,06,000.

Hero Destini 125 Overview

Right off the bat, Hero Destini 125 is the new a family-friendly scooter (like the Suzuki Access 125). It is powered by a 124.6cc V-Matic engine. Furthermore, it can generate a max power of 8.7BHP at 6750rpm and max torque of 10.2Nm at 5000rpm.

Styling wise, Hero Destini 125 comes with a metal body. Moreover, it takes a lot of design cues from its sibling, Hero Duet 110. Likewise, it gets a handlebar mounted headlamp and turns indicators positioned on its front apron. Unfortunately, it does not come with LED lights.

Furthermore, you get external fuel filler, analog-digital instrument cluster, combined braking system (CBS), and few other decent features. Additionally, you also get USB charging port, boot light and a dual-tone seat for more premium feel.

Hero Destini 125 Comes with Segment-First i3S System!

This is where the “stand-out from the crowd” factor comes in. Hero Destini comes with a segment-first i3S system. This system is expected to bring in improvements in the overall fuel efficiency. However, real-world performance is yet to be seen.

What’s the i3S System?

Hero MotoCorp developed the i3S system to improve fuel efficiency. First implemented in the Hero Splendor iSmart, this system automatically switches off the engine when the riders come to a stop. And automatically turns it on when the rider is ready to go.

For example; when you stop the bike at a stop light for more than 5 seconds, the i3S system puts the engine into hibernate or sleep mode. When you’re ready to go, simply press the clutch which turns on the engine. This process is automatic and shows to drastically improve overall fuel efficiency.

Should You Buy Hero Destini 125 in Nepal?

So far, Hero Destini 125 looks like a great family scooter. You get a great engine refinement along with a good performance. Like Hero’s iconic legacy, you don’t have to improvise in term of quality. Other things like handling, practicability, low-end performance, and maneuvering are really good. Especially considering the overall price, it’s comparatively affordable to its rivals.

However, there are a few things I didn’t quite appreciate. First, you get a generic design which is very similar to Honda Activa. It’s pretty boring and Hero tries to play it safe. Moreover, as seen in 2019 Hero Karizma R, Hero MotoCorp isn’t known for being good designers. Additionally, things like LED lights, Disc-brake variant, and boot lamp are missing.

In conclusion, Hero Destini 125 is a great new Hero Scooter in Nepal, but there are few places for improvements. However, I’ll give Hero a pass, as Destini 125 is a great 125cc scooter with an affordable price tag of just Rs. 2,06,000.
