The government has spent more than Rs. 1.5 billion for developing and purchasing new software, reports New Business Age. The amount has been spent in the first eight months of the current fiscal year when it is finding difficulties arranging financial resources.
The Details:
- The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has released Rs. 1.57 billion to 37 authorities in this period.
- The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Ministry of Commerce (MoC) have received Rs. 430 million and Rs. 420 million respectively.
- Similarly, the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Home Affairs (MoFA) and Ministry of Industry (MoI) received a total of Rs. 300 million, Rs. 80 million and Rs. 40 million, respectively.

- Arjun Prasad Pokhrel, the spokesperson at MoF, informed that the amount has been allocated to the ministries in accordance with the budget of the current Fiscal Year.
Why it matters:
- Although so much amount has been allocated, the government has no clue about the progress and development of the software that the ministries have made.
