After much delay, the government is finally working to implement the clean feed policy, reports The Himalayan Times.
In the 18th annual general meeting of the Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN), the Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet said that the clean feed policy will be implemented soon.
Basnet said, “Though we had to defer our earlier plan to implement the policy from the beginning of this fiscal due to some technical problems, we are now at the final stage of implementing the policy, which will enhance the whole advertising industry.”
He also encouraged the advertising agencies to build up competitiveness and maintain self-discipline in the business while stressing the need of self-regulation in advertisement.
Similarly, in the event, Santosh Shrestha, outgoing president of AAN, urged the government to implement the clean feed policy without delay. According to him, Nepali agencies are able to compete with multinational agencies.
The clean feed policy was supposed to be implemented on July 16 to gradually bar foreign broadcasters from carrying advertisements in programs they air in Nepal. But in the same month, the Ministry of Information and Communication said that due to technical difficulties and requirements for new policies, the plan would be delayed.
