Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL Leaks: Things You Shouldn’t Miss

Google Pixel phones are known for their amazing cameras and clean software. Though they aren’t available in Nepal, they are popular in American and European markets amidst tech enthusiasts like you. However, reports said that Googe’s latest flagships – Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL – didn’t sell that well.

It may be because of the many problems that people encountered with the PIxel 3 and 3 XL. They only had 4GB RAM. The front design of the Pixel 3XL put off many people who were eagerly waiting to buy the phone. Also, they look okay compared to competing smartphones like iPhone XS and Samsung’s Galaxy S phones. And the worst of all, they are similarly priced as their rivals even though they lack features that their rivals have.

So, Google has come up with two new smartphones that are aimed at the mid-range market. They are like the lite version of Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3XL. They are named Google Pixel 3A and Google Pixel 3A XL. This is a similar concept that Apple and Samsung implemented with the iPhone XR and Samsung Galaxy S10e respectively. But 3a and 3a XL will be much cheaper.

These phones are set to launch on 7th May during Google’s I/O. Google I/O is an annual developer conference held by Google in Mountainview, California. Previously, several topics have been discussed in these I/Os from Google Maps to Chromebooks.

Flipkart, an Indian online retail site, has already started a countdown until May 8 stating “Something big is coming to the Pixel Universe; Know more on  8th May”.

We know many more details about these new phones except their launch dates. We even have some visuals as to what these phones would look like. They look awfully similar to the Pixel 3 which is a good thing because the other route would have been to look similar to the Pixel 3XL and that would have been terrible.

Pixel 3a is supposed to come with a 5.6″ display that will have the aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and a resolution of FHD+. It is expected to be an OLED panel. There will be 3 colors: Just Black, Clearly white, and Purple-ish. Furthermore, the phone packs a 3,000mAh battery with an 18W fast-charging support and 150grams of weight. It is expected to start from $399.

Pixel 3a XL will come with 6″ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ aspect ratio. This will also be an OLED panel. This phone is said to have Snapdragon 670 processor inside. This is a powerful midrange chipset. Other details that we know about this 3Xl is that it will pack 3700mAh battery and weigh just 170g. This will also be available in the same 3 colors as the Pixel 3. This phone may start at $ 479.

One thing that will set these two phones apart from the crowd will be their cameras. If these cameras are anything like the ones that come with Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL, these smartphones would be flying off the shelves. The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are reported to have 12.2-megapixel Dual Pixel cameras, 4GB RAM, 64GB inbuilt storage, 8-megapixel selfie camera, and squeezable Active Edge sensors. It is also said that the phones would come with rear fingerprint sensors and run Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. If these leaks are to be believed, I don’t think most people would have concrete reasons to shell out more cash for PIxel 3 and Pixel 3XL when they are getting so much of the good stuff with the 3a and 3a XL.

Well, we will have to wait until the May 8 launch to know the full truth. However, reading about these phones has got me excited about them. I hope someone will dare to bring these phones to Nepal, and we could test them out to give you guys our verdict.
