Gogoro Inc., a leading battery-swapping technology company from Taiwan, has teamed up with Nebula Energy to open their first Experience Center in Narayanchaur, Naxal, Kathmandu.
This partnership brings Gogoro’s innovative electric scooters and battery-swapping technology to Nepal.
Since its founding in 2011, Gogoro has quickly gained recognition for its battery-swapping technology. In 2023, it was named the most innovative company in Asia-Pacific and featured in MIT Technology Review’s list of “15 Climate Tech Companies to Watch.”
Gogoro focuses on countries where two-wheelers are the main mode of transport. It already operates in Taiwan, China, India, the Philippines, Singapore, and Israel. Now, Gogoro is expanding to Nepal, a country that is rapidly adopting electric vehicles (EVs).
With Nepal aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050, switching to electric vehicles is more important than ever, as transportation contributes the most to the country’s emissions.
At the launch event, Mr. Manoj Goyal, Chairman of Nebula Energy, emphasized the need for this shift to electric mobility. He reaffirmed Nebula Energy’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s zero-emission targets by developing sustainable transport solutions in partnership with Gogoro.
Nebula Energy has invited everyone to visit the Experience Center. Visitors can test ride the scooters, see how the battery-swapping system works, and explore different subscription plans.
Gogoro Smart Scooters in Nepal
Gogoro is launching three scooter models in Nepal. The following table lists the models and their price in Nepal for 2024.
Gogoro Scooters | Price in Nepal |
---|---|
Gogoro Jego | Rs. 229900 (Single Battery) / Rs. 244900 (Dual Battery) |
Gogoro Crossover | Rs. 274900 (Single Battery) / Rs. 279900 (Dual Battery) |
Gogoro Pulse | Rs. 599900 (Pulse) / Rs. 724900 (Pulse Ultra) |
#1 Gogoro Jego – This entry-level scooter price in Nepal starts at Rs. 2,29,900 for the Single Battery option and Rs. 2,44,900 for the Dual Battery. It’s lightweight, stylish, and perfect for daily commuting.
#2 CrossOver GX250 – Priced at Rs. 2,74,900, this all-terrain “two-wheel SUV” offers storage, riding, and customization options. It’s built for those who want a reliable scooter for both city rides and adventure. Furthermore, there is also a Dual Battery option whose price in Nepal is Rs. 2,79,900.
#3 Gogoro Pulse – The top model price in Nepal starts at Rs. 5,99,900, and the high-end Pulse Ultra price in Nepal Rs. 7,24,900. With a powerful 9kW motor, it goes from 0 to 50 km/h in just 3.05 seconds. It comes with premium features like Adaptive Matrix Headlights, Dual Channel ABS, and a large 10.25-inch Panoramic HD Display with Navigation.
Gogoro’s Battery Swapping Technology is one of its key features. Riders can swap a drained battery for a fully charged one in less than 30 seconds. This removes the need to wait hours for a battery to charge.
Nebula Energy has started taking pre-bookings for Gogoro Scooters while deliveries are expected to start from November, 2024. Gogoro’s subscription plans, starting at Rs. 799 per month, provide about 200 kilometers of range, making it affordable and easy for Nepali consumers to adopt electric vehicles. To support this, Nebula Energy is building 45 battery-swapping stations across Kathmandu Valley.
One big advantage of Gogoro’s system is that riders don’t own the batteries. Gogoro takes care of the batteries, recycling them properly and upgrading them as technology improves.
This means riders don’t have to worry about battery maintenance or lifespan, and they’ll always have access to the latest battery technology.
Gogoro is set to make electric two-wheelers a practical and eco-friendly option for the country’s transportation needs.
