GAC Aion V Overview
Design
The GAC Aion V is a sleek and stylish mid-size (compact) SUV designed to impress.
At the front, the H-shaped LED headlamps stand out as a distinctive design element, giving the car a modern and elegant look.
Black claddings seamlessly connect the grille section to the lower bumper, creating a sense of continuity with inward-bulging contours that enhance its appeal.
From the side, the Aion V boasts a clean and refined profile.
Its beauty is accentuated by 19-inch multi-spoke Aluminum wheels, which not only elevate the car’s aesthetics but also provide excellent ground clearance.
A long wheelbase further enhances its stance.
At the rear, the design borrows elements from the front, most notably in the vertically oriented LED taillights, mirroring the headlamp design.
Inside, the Aion V delivers a refined and minimalist cabin experience, typical of Chinese EVs. The centerpiece of the dashboard is a large 14.6-inch Control Screen.
Comfort features abound, with Leatherette Seats that include Heating and Ventilation for the Front Passengers. The Luxury variant also features a Smart Refrigerator that supports 3 modes of freezing and refrigeration.
The two-spoke steering wheel features physical controls for ease of use, while an 8.8-inch Instrument Cluster sits behind it.
The cabin feels airy and sophisticated, thanks to a Panoramic Glass Roof and a 10-Speaker Sound System that enriches the driving experience.
GAC offers the Aion V in four vibrant color options: White, Blue, Orange, and Grey.
Performance
The Aion V is powered by a 100 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, which generates a max power of 136 PS and a max torque of 240 Nm.
There are two battery options available for the Aion V. Both of these battery packs are based on Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry and are further complemented by GAC’s patented Magazine technology that ensure better thermal stability and safety from fire.
The first is a 62.7 kWh, which supports a NEDC-claimed range of 520 km. This battery can be fully charged from 0 to 100% in approximately 10 hours using a 7.2 kW charger.
The second option is a 75.3 kWh “Magazine” LFP battery, offering a NEDC-claimed range of 650 km. It takes around 12 hours to charge from 0% to 100% with a 7.2 kW AC charger.
When using a DC Fast Charger, the 62 kWh battery variant can charge from 10% to 80% in about 1 hour. The 75 kWh variant requires around 10 extra minutes to reach the same level with the same setup.
Furthermore, the Aion V can accelerate from 0 to 100 Km/h in 7.9 seconds.

---|---|
Elite variant | Rs. 6499000 |
Luxury variant | Rs. 6999000 |
In terms of competition, GAC Aion V will likely compete against the Leapmotor C10.
The Aion V features a 150 kW PMS motor paired with either a 62.7 kWh or 75.3 kWh battery option. Meanwhile, the C10 takes performance up a notch with its larger 160 kW PMS motor and a 69.9 kWh battery pack.
While C10’s battery outpaces the 62 kWh variant of the Aion V, it falls slightly short compared to the 75.3 kWh option of the V.
In terms of driving range, the Aion V delivers 520 km and 650 km on its 62.7 kWh and 75.3 kWh battery packs, respectively, based on NEDC claims. However, real-world performance may drop by up to 35% of these estimates.
The C10, on the other hand, claims a 420 km range under the WLTP standard, which typically sees a smaller deviation of 15–20%.
While the Aion V holds an advantage with its 75.3 kWh variant, the difference in range isn’t overwhelmingly significant.
Feature-wise, both vehicles, being Chinese-manufactured EVs, offer a wealth of options.
Both the Aion V and the C10 share a similar price point in Nepal, with the top-spec Aion V Luxury variant and the C10 both priced at Rs. 70 Lakhs.
This makes both models attractive options in their segment, offering competitive features and performance.
However, the Aion V holds a slight edge, thanks to its impressive 75.3 kWh battery that delivers a claimed range of 650 km under the NEDC cycle. Even with a 35% adjustment for real-world conditions, the range remains robust at approximately 420 km.
This significant advantage in range comes at the same price as the C10, positioning the Aion V as a more compelling choice for buyers who have range concerns.
