DJI RS 4 Overview
Design
Overall, the base design of the RS 4 hasn’t changed much from its predecessor. The shape and position of the control stick, battery grip, and tilt arm are the same as the RS 3’s.
The differences between the two show in their size and weight. The RS 4 comes in a bit heavier at 1.4 kg and bigger than the RS 3. The larger tilt arm size does mean that the gimbal can now incorporate cameras with a bigger body, however, the payload carrying capacity of the RS 4 remains the same at up to 3 kg.
The gimbal also features a redesigned horizontal plate that enables the second-generation native vertical shooting. You can simply release the horizontal plate and secure it into the vertical position for an easy switch to vertical shooting.
Visually, the most significant difference between the RS 3 and the RS 4 is the removal of the red streak paint from the tilt arm of the RS 4. The axis arms of the RS 4 also now come coated in Teflon for ‘reduced friction and smoother balancing’ as per DJI’s claims.
On the controls side, the RS 4 comes with a 1.8-inch touchscreen, below that is the joystick that controls the gimbal arms, and beside the joystick are the record and the M button. On the left of the touchscreen is the joystick mode switch and finally, on the front, are the dial and the trigger of the gimbal.

Features
With the implementation of 4th-gen RS stabilization algorithms, the RS 4 has overall better stability, vertical shooting, and more steady running and low-angle shots.
On top of all this, the support for Focus Pro Motor provides a 30% increased motor speed and lens zoom adjustments when compared to the original.
The RS 4 now comes with 2nd-gen axis locks that allow the gimbal to quickly start working or enter sleep mode. The feature can be activated through the touchscreen or the switch near the tilt arm.
Accessory-wise, the gimbal comes with an RSA communication port which allows for the connection with other DJI and third-party accessories.
Lastly, with the DJI Ronin app, you can set gimbal motor parameters, perform remote setup, access gimbal operation data in real-time, and diagnose gimbal status. Through the app, users can also use functions like panorama, timelapse, and object tracking,
Battery
The DJI RS 4 comes equipped with a 3000mAh battery grip (BG21) by default. The default battery grip provides a claimed usage ofc 12 hours.
The RS 4 gimbal also supports the BG70 high-capacity battery grips.
