DJI Action 2 Overview
Design
The DJI Action 2 has a main unit called the Camera unit, which can be mounted with a number of interchangeable modules, including a Front Touchscreen module, a power module, and numerous mounting peripherals.
The Camera unit has a compact square body made of aluminium alloy that measures 39 x 39 x 22.3 mm and weighs just 56 g. It has a 1.76-inch OLED touchscreen display. Attaching the Front Touchscreen module can provide an additional OLED screen, which magnetically attaches to the bottom of the Camera unit.
When you use it, the screen gives haptic feedback to make navigation easier. Also, the screens are said to be protected by Gorilla Glass, yet no specific Gorilla Glass is mentioned.
The Camera unit is IP68 certified, which means it can resist water and dust, and DJI claims it can operate at depths of up to 10 meters in water without the need for a separate waterproof enclosure. The company also mentions that the action camera can withstand drops.

Camera
The DJI Action 2 has a 12MP camera with a 1/1.7″ CMOS sensor. It has an aperture of f/1.8 and covers a 155° field of view. The camera can shoot video up to 4K at 120 fps and up to 1080p at 240fps.
DJI also mentions that it now has a Color Temperature Sensor that helps produce more natural and vibrant results, even in difficult lighting conditions and underwater recording.
The action camera includes its own EIS — RockSteady 2.0 and HorizonSteady — for stabilization. However, HorizonSteady is only available in 1080p (16:9) or 2.7K (16:9) resolution.
Features
There is only one microphone on the Camera unit. However, when connected to the Front Touchscreen module, the three additional microphones found in the module enable DJI Matrix Stereo technology, allowing stereo recording on the DJI Action 2. The DJI Pocket 2 was the first device to feature the technology.
It has 32GB of internal memory and can be expanded via a microSD card up to 256GB. The card slot, however, is only in the First Touchscreen module and Power module, not in the Camera unit.
The action camera can be mounted with various accessories. In addition to the aforementioned Front Touchscreen Module and Power Module, other accessories include the Magnetic Lanyard, Ball-Joint Adapter Mount, Magnetic Adapter Mount, Remote Control Extension Rod, DJI Floating Handle, Waterproof Case, Magnetic Headband, and Macro Lens.
Battery
The Camera unit of the DJI Action 2 has a 580mAh battery, which the company claims can last up to 70 minutes when recording 1080p/30fps video in Power Reserve mode.
Both the Front Touchscreen module and the Power module also have their own batteries, extending the camera’s battery life to 160 minutes and 180 minutes, respectively.
