CUBOT is an Android Smartphone manufacturer based in Shenzhen China. It is owned by Shenzen Huafurui Technology Co. Though there is no shortage of new manufacturers entering Nepal, still more keep coming in. This year alone, phones like Tambo, Nubia, and Bluboo came to Nepal. Now, its the turn of CUBOT.
Kasthamandap Asia International Pvt. Ltc. (KAI) is the authorized national distributor of CUBOT Smartphone for Nepal. For the time being, they have launched 6 new CUBOT smartphones in Nepal. The products range from Rs. 9,500 to Rs. 16,500. So, it looks like CUBOT is a budget focused phone manufacturer like Colors.
The phones that have landed on the shores of Nepal are, in the ascending order of price, J3, R9, R11, MAGIC, NOTE Plus, and Nova. J3, R9, and R11 are all 3G phones while MAGIC, NOTE Plus, and Nova all have 4G capabilities.
CUBOT Smartphones Nepal
CUBOT J3
As J3 is the least expensive, it is also the most entry-level phone in the list. CUBOT J3 has a 5 inch 18:9 display, 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP selfie camera. Inside, it features a modest 1 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage with a small 2000 mAh battery. The 16GB internal storage is pretty high for the price though. CUBOT J3 costs Rs. 9,500 in the Nepali market.
CUBOT R9
The R9 costs Rs. 12,675. It also comes with a 5.0-inch display. Inside there is a combination of 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The rear camera is 13MP and at the front, there’s a 5MP shooter. While the hardware is pretty decent for the price, the software used on this phone, Android Nougat 7.0, lets this phone down. A phone launched this late into 2018 should at least have an Android 8.0 Oreo.
CUBOT R11
CUBOT R11 has a 5.5 inch 18:9 HD+ display with a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core chipset inside combined with 2GB RAM. The internal storage is 16GB and the phone comes preloaded with Android 8.1 Oreo. The battery is larger than its previous two siblings at 2800mAh. At the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera and the back has dual 13MP+2MP sensor setup. The phone is available in Gray, Black, Blue Color variants. The R11 will set you back for Rs. 14820.
CUBOT MAGIC
CUBOT MAGIC has a 5.0inch HD display. It is also the cheapest phone from CUBOT to support 4G. Inside, a 1.5GHz MediaTek 6737 quad-core chipset is paired with 3GB of RAM. that is pretty generous for a phone that costs Rs. 14,820. But, the internal storage is a meager 16GB. It’s a shame that the device ships with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The phone is available in Black and Grey variants.
CUBOT NOTE Plus
The 5th and the second most expensive CUBOT phone to make it into Nepal is the NOTE Plus. This phone has a 5.2 inch 16:9 Full HD display at the front. A quad-core 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6737T powers this device in tandem with 3GB RAM. The storage is a bit generous too at Rs. 32GB. For Rs. 16,100, these are all compelling specs. Especially when you consider the front 16MP camera and the rear single 16 MP shooter. But, the software, the old Android Noughat 7.0 lets this phone down.
CUBOT Nova
Finally, the most expensive phone of the bunch is the Nova. CUBOT Nova comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio FullHD+ display. The bezels look very small in the renders. It has a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6739 working with 3GB RAM. Surprisingly, the storage on the Nova (16GB) is smaller than that on the Note (32GB). Why? I don’t know. At least, we have got Android 8.1 in here. There’s a 13MP single shooter at the back and an 8MP shooter at the front. This phone costs Rs. 16,375.
It is always good to see new manufacturers entering the market. It ensures that no single company can dictate what the consumers should have on their phone. This also means a lot of price drops because of competition between manufacturers. CUBOT has arrived in Nepal just before new year. Hope their journey in 2019 is as fruitful as they wish it to be.
