Accurate, timely data are the crucial factor for social civic development and due to instability of many factors of our country we do not get the right information. To discuss the issues, Open Nepal has given civil society and citizens to discuss the main concerns about data hindrance and inactivity of NIC, with the Chief Commissioner of National Information Commission currently coordinating the Nepali Government’s Open Government Data policy.

The goal of the event is to raise the concerns and recommendations of civil society on issues related to Open Government Data while providing a forum to share their experiences on accessing and using government data in Nepal.

Talking to one of the organizer of the event,

Q: What is the program about?
A: The program is all about the data redundancy. It is done to ensure there is transparency between data provided by the government and the citizens.

Q: What do you think will be the possible outcomes of the program?
A: The main thing is that the people will get to interact with the commissioner and discuss the data policy of Nepal government. The people will also be able to suggest what NIC needs to do next. This will help to create a cooperative environment among the people and NIC.
