China recently donated over 32,000 sets of solar power generation system to Nepal which are to be distributed in different areas of the country, according to Xinhua News.
The donation includes 32,000 sets of household solar power generation system (10Wp) and 325 sets of solar power generation system (1200Wp), battery, controller, LED bulb and case that include status indicator and system cable.
In a formal ceremony, Ram Prasad Lamsal, joint secretary at Nepal’s Ministry of Population and Environment expressed his gratitude saying, “The support provided by China is instrumental to addressing the problems of environment and climate change. It will also benefit our people from the perspective of health and saving time.”
The government is looking to distribute the donated items in the districts highly affected by the devastating earthquake of 2015.
The distribution of the products will be handled by the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC). It will distribute the items in Sindhupalchowk, Kavrepalanchowk, Nuwakot, Dhading and Lamjung where many villages still remain unconnected to the national electricity grid.
Talking about the distribution of donated item, Ram Prasad Dhital, executive director at AEPC informed that the high power systems will be used in community schools, health centres and local government offices while the low power systems will be used in households.
AEPC will start working on the distribution as soon as the technical arrangements are completed.
