Government Awaits to Enforce Digital TV as Service Providers File a Case

Digital Analog Television

A case has been filed against the plan of the government in the Supreme Court to switch the country’s analogue television broadcasting system to digital.

Details:

  • The cable service providers that have failed to switch to the digital broadcasting system have filed a complaint against the government.

Why it matters?

  • This makes the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) unable to enforce digital television system until the Supreme Court issues a verdict.

The Backstory:

About the Digital System

The digital television system requires users to have set-top boxes to their television sets, which will enable them to view clear and high definition TV channels. As one set-top box will allow channel broadcasting for only one television, the digital cable TV broadcasting will discourage channel viewing in multiple TV sets through a single cable.
