BYD Sealion 7 is coming to Nepal.

Cimex, the authorized distributor of BYD vehicles in Nepal, is set to launch the performance-focused Sealion 7 electric SUV by 2025.

Currently, BYD Nepal offers five models across four categories: the Dolphin (Hatchback), Atto 3 (SUV), Seal (Sedan), and e6 & M6 (multi-purpose vehicles).

Expanding its Ocean Series lineup, BYD Nepal is preparing to introduce the Sealion 7, further strengthening its SUV portfolio.

With the Sealion 7 joining the lineup, BYD Nepal aims to build on the success of the Atto 3, Nepal’s best-selling SUV, and reinforce its position in the country’s EV market.

BYD has officially launched the Sealion 7 in India at an attractive starting price of INR 24.99 lakh. As a performance-focused SUV from the renowned EV giant, it offers strong value for money.

BYD Sealion 7 Overview

Design

The BYD Sealion 7, part of BYD’s Ocean series, embraces the brand’s signature “Ocean Aesthetic” and is built on the advanced e-platform 3.0.

At the front, it radiates a striking resemblance to the BYD Seal, highlighted by a distinctive double U-shaped lighting setup. The design also features numerous sharp cut lines and two prominent raised ribs on the bonnet, adding to its bold character.

From the side, the Sealion 7 exudes a dynamic presence, drawing inspiration from the flowing waves of the ocean.

Unlike the Seal sedan, this SUV adopts a coupe-like sloping roofline that merges into a slightly bulged rear section, visually distinguishing it from the Atto 3.

At the rear, a sleek full-width LED taillight extends slightly onto the sides, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.

Inside, the Sealion 7 offers a familiar BYD layout with a reworked central console for a refined touch.

The premium leatherette seats elevate the cabin’s luxury, with the driver’s seat featuring 8-way Electric Adjustability and 4-way Lumbar Support, while the passenger seat offers 6-way Power Adjustment. Both front seats come with built-in ventilation for added comfort.

A large 15.6-inch Floating Central Touchscreen, a signature element of BYD interiors, makes an appearance here, now larger than in previous models.

The four-spoke steering wheel sits in front of a crisp 10.25-inch Digital Instrument Cluster along with a Heads-Up Display.

Above, the Panoramic Glass Roof floods the cabin with natural light, while the integrated electric sunshade provides shade when needed. And, the in-car audio system features 12 high-quality speakers.

The BYD Sealion 7 is available in four color options: Shark Grey, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey, and Cosmos Black.

Performance

BYD Sealion 7 comes in Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) option.

The RWD variant is powered by a 230 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that generates a max power of 312.7 PS and a max torque of 380 Nm.

The AWD option comes with a Dual motor setup that houses a 160 kW motor on the front axle and a 230 kW on the rear axle. Combined this setup produces a max power of 530 PS and a max torque of 690 Nm.

Both variants are supported by an 82.56 kWh Blade Battery pack which can be charged from 0 to 100% in around 8 hours with a 11 kW AC Charger.

It supports 150 kW of DC Fast Charging that can charge it from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes.

The AWD variant features iTAC (Intelligent Torque Adaption Control), a precision differential system that optimally distributes torque to each wheel based on driving conditions.

Moreover, the AWD variant can achieve a top speed of 215 Km/h with a 0 to 100 Km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

The RWD variant achieves a similar top speed but has a slightly lagging 0 to 100 Km/h, clocking at 6.7 seconds.

Additional Details

Double Wishbone and Multi-Link Independent Suspensions handle the suspension duties.

The dimensions are 4830 mm in length, 1925 mm in width, and 1620 mm in height. Moreover, the wheelbase is 2930 mm.

The ground clearance of Sealion 7 is 163 mm. And, the kerb weight ranges from 2225 Kg to 2340 Kg, depending on the variant.

Additionally, there is a 58-liter frunk space while the rear trunk space is 500-liter.

BYD Sealion 7 price in Nepal is not known as of yet.

The official launch in Nepal is confirmed for 2025, with expectations pointing to the early months of the year.

While the vehicle made its debut at the NADA Auto Show 2024, minimal details were revealed at the time. However, its recent launch in India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo provided a clearer picture of what it has to offer and it does look promising!
