boAt Stone 190 Review
Flashy Design
- Mesh Cover
- IPX7
The design of the speaker is quite compact. You can literally carry it in the palm of your hand. It comes in a round shape and has a mesh cover on top which feels pretty robust to the touch. The rest of the body is made of plastic.
The Stone 190 has a pretty simple design that just works. A speaker, some buttons and a flat bottom to stay put on the surface. It’s a simple yet effective design formula.
The speaker is also placed at the top along with 4 buttons: Power, Volume Down, Volume Up, and Play/Pause. At the front is a flap where you’ll find the only other connection method to the speaker and a MicroUSB port for charging.
Connection
- Bluetooth 5.0
- Aux
The Stone 190 uses Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting to an audio source. It’s pretty standard stuff and you do get a decent range of around 10m.
During our testing, we didn’t notice connection drops when the source and speaker were close to each other or when they were further apart. Connecting to the speaker is quite simple as well due to the prompts the speaker reads out when turned on or in pairing mode.
The Stone 190 has good Bluetooth connection with no drops but has limited inputs in other sources.
While the Bluetooth connection is solid, the speaker felt a bit lacking in other input sources. Other than the Bluetooth, you get an Aux input port and that’s it. We were hoping you’d get maybe an SD card or a USB port for input as well. Still, most of us will use this speaker with Bluetooth connection so it may not end up being a big deal for most users.
Sound
- 52mm Full range driver
- 5W speaker
- 4 ohms impedance
Alright, the main section of this review is here. So, what’s the speaker sound like? We tested it in a multitude of songs and genres, some movies, and here is what we found.
The single 5W speaker on this unit gets loud. In a decent-sized bedroom, the speaker got uncomfortably loud over 80% volume. So we did our testing mostly with the speaker at around 60-70% volume.
Overall, we were quite satisfied with the sound. Talking about the mids and highs, the sound was quite clear. The sound of the instruments was clear and the overall vocal clarity was good.
In the bass department, we were quite surprised at how good it was given the size of the speaker. It’s not the best but you can give it a passing score. You can feel the bass thump, the vibration reaching your skin. Even at over 70% volume, the bass didn’t tear apart.

Battery
- 800mAh battery
- Micro USB
In the battery department, the speaker claims a continuous playback of 4 hours on a single charge. This leaves much to desire in terms of battery life but given the small form factor, it’s somewhat understandable.
As for charging, when you open the flap, you will see a Micro-USB port for charging. It’s a budget speaker but a Type-C charger would’ve been a better look on it. However, they do include the Micro-USB cable with the box, so it shouldn’t be that big of a deal.
