Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED with Foldable Display Launched in Nepal

Asus today officially launched the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED in Nepal. It is a new hybrid of laptop and tablet from Asus that has a futuristic flexible, foldable display.

The Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED price in Nepal is Rs. 5,55,555. The laptop is available at Asus-authorised stores in Nepal.

The prototype of this foldable OLED laptop was first showcased earlier this year at CES 2022. A few months after the tease, the laptop was officially announced on August 31, 2022, at the industrial exhibition IFA.

The Zenbook 17 Fold can be used both as a tablet or a laptop, or you can even use it as a 17-inch all-in-one computer. It is the world’s first 17.3-inch foldable OLED laptop. The laptop is powered by a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 U-series processor.

Design

The design of the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is unlike any other traditional laptop. The highlight of the laptop is that it folds. Well, technically all laptops are foldable, but what this laptop offers differently is that it has a foldable display.

The foldable display allows you to fold the laptop in half, making it compact for easy carry, which is nothing new for a laptop, but when you need a bigger screen, you can just unfold the laptop and use it as a 17-inch tablet.

Or, it can also stand on its own so, you can also use it as a 17-inch all-in-one computer with a full-size Asus ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard with a touchpad provided with the laptop.

The keyboard also magnetically attaches to the bottom half of the laptop, so you can partially fold the laptop and use it as a conventional laptop.

The laptop is made out of magnesium alloy, and the back of it has an Asus monogram logo on the matte glass coating that reflects the light in a cool way. The hinge part of the laptop is wrapped by a dark green faux leather cover that both protects the laptop and gives a grip. Moreover, it also has a kickstand when you want to keep the laptop upright.

The chassis is close to 9mm thick when unfolded, which is very thin for a laptop but normal for a tablet. When folded, the laptop is a bit thicker, but there is also room for the external keyboard. The laptop weighs 1.5kg without the keyboard and 1.8kg with the keyboard.

For ports, the laptop has two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports with display and power delivery support and an audio combo jack.

Display

The display measures 17.3 inches diagonally when unfolded. It’s a 4:3 foldable OLED touchscreen with a 2.5K resolution (2560 x 1920 pixels). Folding the panel in the middle creates two seamless 3:2 12.5-inch 1920 by 1280 displays.

The display is Dolby Vision certified and has a 100% DCI-P3 gamut. It has a peak HDR brightness of 500nits and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.

Hardware and Connectivity

The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED comes equipped with Intel Core i7-1250U with Intel Iris Xe Graphics. The CPU has a base clock of 1.1GHz and up to 4.70GHz max turbo. It has 2 performance cores, 6 efficiency cores, and a 12MB cache.

The processor is paired with 16GB onboard LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. The SSD is user-replaceable, but the RAM is not. For connectivity, the laptop supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

It comes with Harman Kardon-certified quad-speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

Battery

The tablet comes with a 75Wh battery. It comes with a 65W Type-C AC adapter that charges the device via either of the two USB-C ports.

Asus claims that, on a single charge, the laptop can last up to 9.5 hours in 12.5″ laptop mode and up to 8.5 hours in 17.3″ desktop mode.
