Honor has launched a new budget-friendly Honor X5 smartphone in Nepal. The phone was released on March 15, 2023, in the country.

The company has already launched the X6, X7, X8, and X9 in Nepal in 2022. The X5 sits in the lineup as the most affordable. Honor also launched the Honor X8a in Nepal earlier this month.

Design

As is common in budget phones, the back of the Honor X5 is made of plastic but has a leather-like finish. The back has a single rear camera with a flash enclosed in a huge square at the top left corner.

Both the power and volume buttons are provided on the right side of the device. Unfortunaley, it does not have a fingerprint sensor.

And for charging and data transfer, it comes with a Micro-USB port (no USB-C), next to a 3.5mm headphone jack. It comes in three color variants: sunrise orange, ocean blue, and midnight black.

Display

The phone has a big 6.5-inch TFT LCD display panel with an HD+ resolution. The display has a waterdrop notch to house a selfie camera at the top.

Hardware

Powering the X5 is the same chipset that also powers the Honor X6. It is the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset that is built on a 12nm process technology.

It has eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores, of which four are clocked at up to 2.0GHz and the rest at up to 1.5GHz. The graphics is handled by PowerVR GE8320 GPU.

The processor is paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 4 (2.4GHz) and Bluetooth 5.1.

Camera

The back has a single 8MP primary camera, while for the selfies, there is a 5MP camera at the front. Both the front and back cameras can shoot 1080p videos.

Battery and OS

The phone is fueled by a 5000mAh battery. It charges via a Micro-USB port and has no fast charging support.

In terms of software, the phone runs on Android 12 (Go edition). The Go edition is a lighter Android OS that is made for low-end phones with 2GB or less RAM.

The Honor X5 price in Nepal is expected to be around Rs. 15,000. The phone is set to be launched in Nepal in March 2023. After which, it will be available for purchase at phone retail stores across the country.
