The Helio X30 is a great processor, often compared to the Snapdragon 835, is great to have in this budget smartphone. On top of that, you get 4 Gigabytes of RAM which will get you through any imaginable workload without a hiccup. As far as the camera goes, its great, with a dual camera setup on the back and a 16 Megapixel sensor on the front.

Meizu Pro 7
The Meizu Pro 7 is a toned down version of the Meizu Pro 7 Plus. The name says it all. You are getting the same design but smaller. I am a little skeptical about the processor because well, frankly I don’t trust MediaTek processor as much as I trust Snapdragon ones. The Helio P25 is a great processor on paper, but I am not quite sure how this does in real world.
Other than the SoC, everything else, the RAM, cameras, build, software is like you would expect from a phone at this price point. The cameras are insane on paper, but the real world? Meh. To be honest, I don’t expect to be “lit” as well. Because you know “generic Chinese manufacturer”.

Meizu M6
Originally released in the third quarter of 2017, this phone made its way to Nepal only after a couple of months. This is a great phone. At a sub 20 thousand price tag, you are getting an Octa-core processor and 2 or 3 gigabytes of RAM. The screen might not be an impressive one, but for the price it comes in at, this is great. It is going to compete with the phones like the Huawei Y7 Pro and Lava R3. It has a better processor which is going to be prominent in real-world usage.
The camera on this device is a decent 13-megapixel camera. This is going to give you fairly crispy photos, but for videos, you are limited to 1080p. The front camera too is an 8 Megapixel sensor, which is great for the price it comes in at. All of this is powered by a 3070 mAh battery.
Meizu M6 Key Specifications
- Display: 5.2 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen
- Resolution: 720×1280 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~282 ppi density)

Meizu M6 Price in Nepal: Rs. 18,799
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
A decent 13 Megapixel camera which takes nice photos | Video capture is limited to 1080p |
A fairly decent processor | 2 Gigabytes RAM version does not make sense. |
Meizu M5s
This is a fairly older device compared to others in the lineup. Honestly, I don’t think this is a great buy for 2018 because it has an older version of Android and we don’t know whether we are going to get an update. But besides this phone is almost similar to the Meizu M6. You are getting a 5.2 inch IPS panel with a resolution of 720p.
Under the hood, you get a MediaTek MT6753 processor and 3GB RAM which is an almost similar spec to the Meizu M6. In some cases, this might even be a better pick than the Meizu M6, but the Android update has me worried. For the camera, there is a 13 Megapixel camera on the back and a 5 Megapixel camera on the front. Powering this device is a 3000 mAh battery.
Meizu M5s Key Specifications
- Display: 5.2 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen
- Resolution: 720×1280 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~282 ppi density)
- Chipset: MediaTek MT6753

- GPU: Mali-T720MP2
- OS: Android 6.0
- Memory: 32GB or 64GB, 3 GB RAM
- Primary Camera: 13 MP, f/2.2, phase detection autofocus
- Secondary Camera: 5 MP, f/2.0
- Battery: Non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery
Meizu M5s Price in Nepal: Rs. 18,199 (16GB), Rs. 19,499 (32GB)
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Battery is decent which might give you a full day of usage | It has an older version of Android |
You can increase your storage later using microSD card later | The screen is not very impressive |
Meizu M5 Note
I am a bit confused about what Meizu is trying to do with their smartphones. Basically, they are releasing the same phones over and over again with a different name. This too is a phone similar to the Meizu M6 and Meizu M5s, but with a slightly different 5.5-inch 720p screen. The screen is not very good compared to its competitors like the Huawei Y7 Pro. It packs a MediaTek MT6750 processor and 3GB RAM. Again, this is an outdated processor so it might not give you a very good performance.
I am, yet again, a little skeptical about the software in this device because we do not know whether we are getting the updates. It has Android Marshmallow which is very old at this point. On top of that, there is a screen which causes the phone to lag. Other than that, the cameras, the 13MP on the back and 5MP on the front, are decent too. Powering all this is a 4000 mAh battery, which is surprisingly amazing. But you know, it makes sense for a “Note” device.
Meizu M5 Note Key Specifications
- Display: 5.0 inches (720 x 1280), IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen
- Protection: No
- Chipset: MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10

- Battery: Non-removable 4000 mAh battery
- Sensors: Fingerprint (front-mounted), accelerometer, proximity, compass, gyroscope
Meizu M5 Note Price in Nepal: Rs. 21,499
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
A decent 13 Megapixel camera | Older version of Android with an unnecessary skin on top |
The processor is decent which might give you nice performance | The screen is not very impressive |
Meizu M5c
This is more of a budget smartphone from Meizu. With a price less than 15 grand ones, you are getting pretty decent specs. Though some of them are outdated. The MediaTek MT6737 is a “decent” processor but it is 2 years old so we cannot expect this one to perform as well as the new smartphones in the lineup. The 2 GB of RAM might help but that too is an “expectation”.
Everything else, like the screen, camera and battery well, like you would expect from a phone at this price point. This might have been a great phone back when it was released. However, today, if I were you I would not buy this phone. A great alternative to this phone is the Colors S11.
Meizu M5c Key Specifications

Have Your Say
Meizu may not have many smartphones in its lineup, but the smartphones it has released in Nepal are certainly up there to compete with the existing brands from Huawei and Xiaomi and in some cases even the flagship devices. But, something that might pose a huge barrier to Meizu’s success might be the brand recognition. People are afraid of change. For someone who is using a Samsung or a Xiaomi device, it is difficult for them to switch to other brands even if they know for sure that the other one is better. People tend to choose the safer side and like to stick with what they already have.
Meizu certainly has produced great smartphones. But their lineup lacks variation. All the smartphone except the Meizu Pro 7 lack differences. They are almost similar devices with different names. I think Meizu would be able to foster in the market if they add a little more variation in their lineup. The other thing that bothers me is, as I said earlier, the software update. Most aforementioned smartphones have an older version of Android and there is no guarantee that we are going to receive an update which makes me insecure. Other than that, for the specs you are getting the Meizu mobiles price in Nepal is very reasonable.
Among the above-mentioned smartphones, my best pick would be the Meizu Pro 7, but its just me and other people might have a different view. So, we have created a poll where you can vote on which Meizu phone you think is the best.
