Purple Trend Review: Budget Smartwatch With Tons of Features

Purple is a new Nepali brand that debuted in the Nepali market with smartwatches.

Among them, Purple Trend is the most affordable Purple smartwatch that is priced at Rs. 6,499.

I used the Purple Trend for more than a week and this is my full review.

Purple Trend Review

Design

Purple Trend also has a square-shaped body like the Purple Alpha. It is slightly smaller than the Alpha as it measures 44mm*37.5mm*8.7mm. There’s a button on the side that turns off/on the screen.

Its body is made up of zinc-aluminum alloy and comes with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. The main body looks pretty good and is made up of good material. However, it does feel heavier than other watches like Mi Watch 2 Lite.

The silicone strap of the Trend is the same as the Purple Alpha. And, it is also not comfortable to wear all day, mostly due to the metal buckle. The metal buckle feels uncomfortable if you tighten it properly. They should have gone for some sort of plastic buckle instead.

Display

For display, the Trend has a 1.69-inch IPS panel with a screen resolution of 240×280. The bezels are quite good as it is thinner than the Mi Watch 2 Lite.

Like the Purple Alpha, it has a bright screen but the color feels dull. It’s not the best display to look at but you can easily use it outdoors under bright sunlight.

In terms of watch faces, you get 5 watch faces as default and you can choose from 139 other watch faces via its companion app.

Performance& Battery

Purple has not mentioned the chipset or amount of RAM and storage used on the Purple Trend.

Purple Trend is not as smooth as the Alpha on daily usage. I noticed some lags while navigating the watch and the animations were not smooth. Making it worse, when I changed the menu style, the UI froze and I had to restart the watch.

As for storage, it doesn’t allow media transfer between the mobile phone and the watch. However, it does store health data in the watch itself.

The trend has a 220mAh battery which is claimed to provide 20 days of battery life under basic usage. But, if you use all the features with Bluetooth turned on, it will last for more than 6 days.

Health Tracking Features

Purple Trend comes with Heart rate monitoring, Pedometer, Sleep monitoring, SpO2, and Blood Pressure monitoring.

The heart rate measurement and the step counter work pretty well. You can also turn on the 24-hour heart rate monitoring option if you want to.

The SpO2 monitoring is also decent but you should not use this as the standard device for accurate blood oxygen monitoring. Next, the blood pressure monitoring is pretty bad. It was showing low blood pressure reading all the time even after a quick sprint.

For workout-tracking, it has 8 sports modes that include: Walking, Running, Cycling, Skipping, Badminton, Basketball, Football, and Swimming.

Software and Others

Purple Trend uses proprietary OS and you need to install an app called Da Fit to use the Trend.

Da Fit is an average companion app with decent UI. All the health stats and activities are spread out on the main page. It is easy to navigate and change the settings as well. You can download watch faces via the app and toggle settings like notification, alarms, and some others.

Unlike the Purple Alpha, Purple Trend doesn’t come with Bluetooth calling. Furthermore, it has features like Sedentary reminders, Remote music, Remote camera, and Weather.

Should You Buy Purple Trend?

Purple Trend is a decent smartwatch that offers good build quality and lots of features. It is one of the few smartwatches that provides SpO2 monitoring at this price tag.

While it offers plenty of features, the blood pressure feature is a gimmick. Furthermore, it has limited workout modes. It also has a bright display but the watch feels slow and is not as responsive as I would like it to be.

Overall, it is a decent budget watch for new users.
